projector head lamps
I have installed the 2006 head lamps into my 2005 4runner. you will need to buy the garnish that goes under the head lamp, the low beam bulbs are different, they are h11 bulb's. Which will make the connector for the bulb different. The marker light is also different, so you will need to buy the different loom and rewire, since the 2006 has two bulbs. Daytime lights are in head light now. I went ahead and bought philip hid conversion kit, and eliminated connector problem. but the do fit and they look great

Awesome. I think there's more than a few who want to do this too.
Got any pics? Is there a gap underneath the headlights where the garnish is? |
any pics and maybe a write up? oh and cost?
|
:worthless
so are you saiding you have DRL in your headlight and lower blinker light too? |
so the DRLs are in the headlights...
Yeah. i would get the hid kit also. got pics? |
Hmmmm.....I wonder what the chances of that being put into a 3rd gen are? Where did you get it?
I want to do this soooooo bad but, thats around $500-$700 and a lot of work (which could be seen as a fun thing) This would make it a lot easier to do if it would fit with a little work. Which temp bulbs did you use? This going to be huge for you 4th gen guys 05 and earlier! |
With a 3rd gen. the only chance is to do a retrofit like I did.
The cons is that It takes a lot of work and money. The pros is you get real HID projectors from an Audi, or similar HID equipped cars. |
So what color temp did you get? I thought it was 4300. What is the temp that Acura's use such as TL's and TSX's. What about the Navigator's? Whatever they are using I would like to put in to my retro.

Would the first package be ok? What else would I need? Can someone explain the harness hookup and how/what would I do to hook these up? Thanks |
it sounds like you need to do a lot of reading at the HIDplanet.com forum, so go here:

Still no pics??
Really interested to see how this came out. |
I like the fact that with a retrofit, you get all the benefits of having real HID projectors. The only thing that kind of bothers me is the look. I really don't like the way a small projector looks inside a huge headlamp like the 3rd gen 4R and 4th gen Nissan Maxima. I like retrofits that on larger headlights like the 4th gen 4R and the new Altima, because they have round headlights, so with a retrofit, it looks stockish. When I had my Maxima, I was (actually still am) always on maxima.org and a Maxima owner decided to do a dual retrofit to and this is what he ended up with. Someone should really try to attempt this with the 3rd gen 4R headlamp. I would, but I'm a student and very short on funds to take on a project like this. I hope this stirs someones interest to try a dual retrofit.

I was thinking of doing dual retrofit also, but thought it was a waste of money. If i want better high beams, i'll save time and money and get a set of PIAA driving lamps. dual retrofits do look awesome though.
