Door Locks; auto unlock?

Is there a way to reset the door locks so that when I put the 4Runner into Park and the door locks automatically unlock?

The auto lock when I move the gear selector out of Park. This has always annoyed me.

I cant remember who posted it youd have to do a little search but you have to do something like pit the key into ignition, turn to on, within 10 seconds of turning it to on you either hold the lock or unlock button for exactly 4 seconds. When you let go after 4 seconds they locks will lock and unlock. Depending on lock or unlock button you can choose between locks cycling between paek and drive, locks cycling when you get above around 15 mph or nothing. I did nothing and think I had to do it two or three times. I would just do it before I drove it until it worked.

The step by step instructions are in your owners manual. I'd help you find some links, but searching on Tapatalk and/or a smart phone can be cumbersome.

Do a search. You'll find it. It's easy once you know it.

Yup, it took me a couple of tries to get it to work. All these can be found in the owners manual.

I haven't looked at that since I bought it used 2+ years ago. I'll look at that tonight.

As I recall from setting mine a while ago, you have to release the button exactly at the 5 second mark or it won't work. Just keep that in mind. I didn't understand at first and got all frustrated.

And yup, it's in the owner's manual along with a few other options for the door locks and such that you can program yourself.

If you know someone with the Techstream software and connection, it is very easy to program in, along with the lock on going into Park.

I have been trying to do this for a while, and could not figure out what I was doing wrong. :frusty: Now finally my doors won't auto-unlock when I stop and put the transmission in park. Thank you!!

It says to put the vehicle in park. If its already in park does that change anything?

If you're in park, you are good to go to the next step.
