Trans in limp mode '92 T4R
So when I got the truck it had a knock and needed a motor. Long story short, it now has a 5vz with a 2g SC on it. Before the swap (bad engine) it drove odd and didn't really shift at all, but I wasn't sure if it was due to the power issue. Now after getting the swap in and running on the road, I realize it will not leave second gear, regardless of shifter position (D,2 or L).
I have been searching for something and cannot find much help for my problem. I would assume it is a solenoid or other electrical issue but I cannot be sure. One thing to take into consideration is that I am currently running the 3rd gen trans and position switch with the 4th gen ecu and the ors swap harness. Since it ran funny before I am not sure the swap is giving me a problem. Thanks in advance for any advice! I'm glad to be here! Matthew |
bump. any input on checking solenoid function out? I need to open it up anyway to service it.

update
I put a code reader on it this afternoon and found some helpful starting points. Codes are as follows:
P0115 coolant temp sensor circuit malfunction P0120 TPS/Pedal position sensor A circuit malfunction P0505 Idle control system malfunction P0753 shift solenoid A circuit electrical P1300 ?? P0135 o2 heater P0141 o2 heater P1700 ?? Most of these are not of too much concern right now, but I would like some input on the shift solenoid code. And I think all the engine related ones are from a ground issue (I painted a lot of the engine and messed up by not cleaning paint off in some areas) Anyway, thanks for any help and I hope some one has some insight. |
