New to 4Runners

Hi guys

Just picked up a 1990 RN130 4Runner on the weekend. Was a bargain at $500and only needs a few things for rego. So far the only problems ive found is exhaust leak, front brakes, needs a service and tailgate doesnt open.

What i want to know is are there any common problems I should look out for on these?

Also is there any relativly easy engine swaps from say a Hilux v6 or something that will have a bit more grunt than the 22R?

The common one is upgrading to the 3.4 V6 and then supercharging and added a 7th injector...mine had the sh!tty 3.0 in it and I couldn't be more pleased with the 3.4. Easier to work on, more power, more advanced diagnostics. All around a better bet. But research a swap for your rig. It's different going to a v6 from a 4 cylinder than just v6-better v6.
Last I checked OffRoadSolutions (website) had the granddaddy of all lists for undertaking such a task. There are challenges, but I wouldn't change a thing about what my truck feels like it can do now. Totally worth it if money is burning a hole in your pocket and/or you want a hobby.

Thanks 4Reak. Looks like a good conversion but a bit more effort and money than im willing to put in lol. I mainly brought it as a cheap 4x4 to get me by untill my project is finished. Maybe ill just see what i can sqeeze out of the old 22R.
