Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil?
Hi all,
I just saw Mobil-1 5-30w Extended Performance oil at my local Autozone and Mobil's web site guarantees it for 15000 miles or 12 months. I drive about 15k miles a year and if I only change oil once a year instead of 4 times a year that will be great. Anybody is using it? Thank you for any comments. -mike= |
You may want to consider the Amsoil 0w-30, that is rated to last 35,000-mile or one-year, whichever comes first. I would also have a UOA just to make sure.

Amsoil here
I do alot of stop and go driving and at low speeds (50 max) M-F from home to work.
My driving is classified as "Severe Conditions". I do not take chances withthe oil, I use ony the best oil in the world "Amsoil 0w30". I just became a preffered customer and they give you a huge discount online. You should consider this oil before settleing for Mobil 1. it is worth the extra buck or two. Dax |
Thanks for the replies but I just want to get something that I can buy at my local stores instead of having to mail order.
Does Amsoil have a written warranty like this Mobil's for the extended oil change interval? http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/..._Warranty.aspx Thanks again. |

Even if you choose against it this time and just buy mobil's, do your self a favor go to their web site and familiarize your self with their products. I don't mean to sound like a spoke person for them but they are really fast at mailing you the oil. I ordered two cases so far (I change the oil on my Honda CRV and 4runner). And let me suggest to you that if you order, become a preffered customer, the savings are unreal vs non prefered customer. Dax BTW do a search here on AMSOIL and you'll read other people's opinions. EDIT: It took 2 days for mine to arrive, they have a whare house in Richmond VA. |
I get Amsoil from this guy. Last time I ordered on Tue, was at my door on Wed. He also discounts the oil. He even threw in a free hat.

I think the issue is more about time the oil is in the engine rather than miles and I wouldn't feel comfortable changing it after a year has passed. I go about 9k on mine which takes about 10 months and I like that interval.
