New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

It looks like these were announced about a month ago, but I haven't seen much info on them other than they were replacing the Falken Wild Peaks. Despite the great reviews on the Wild Peak/Rocky Mountains, I was really hesitant to run them because of the poor grooving and how they look like street tires when worn rather than an AT.

Looks like the new A/T3W's are fully grooved now. Anyone else hear anything about these tires? Judging from the press photos, it looks like Demello is testing these out on their 4Runner. The sidewalls look a little bland to me, but I'm curious about these.

Knew a girl that had the wild peaks on her 2 1/2" lifted Chevy Trailblazer, said the worst tire ever owned. No traction in any condition, wore down fast.

I have the wildpeaks on my 4Runner. Size 265 65 18. I do some offroad for hunting season and snow in the Pennsylvania winters. I have no complaints about them. I seem to get good traction in all types of weather. I would buy again.

I can't say much because I'm an insider. But these are going to be be amazing tires. They are going to have the deepest initial tread depth on the market, and the quality of the new manufacturing process is superb. I've seen them on a few vehicles at my office and they look awesome. Much better than the prior generation.

Aren't these the rebranded Nitto Terra Grapplers?

I think they're made by hankook or kumho tires.

Cheers! 12-06-2015 03:23 AM

Falkens are not manufactured by Kumho or Hankook. Falken tires is a Japanese tire company, tires are made in Japan.

Kumho and Hankook are both Korean tire companies.

Its weird Falken isn't making great offroad tires. Their 615rt was always a solid tire for the autocross track day racers.

Anyone running these new Flaken WILDPEAK A/T3W yet?

They seem to be a blend of the cooper AT3 and ST MAXX, like a better version of the AT3 with not so boring sidewalls. In std load 265/70/17 they are 3 pounds heavier than the std AT3. They're also made with silica tread compound like the AT3, and have full depth sipes.

1st: Falken
2nd: AT3
3rd: ST Maxx

Just going by tread design l still like the ST Maxx.

Considering the success of the Duratrac everyone will be coming out with an aggressive A/T tire. Now if the companies would make them in a 285/75x17 then I would be happy.
