Kevstaarr's Build Thread
Hey everyone!
Figured I should start a build thread to keep you guys updated with the work that's going to be done to my car, instead of creating multiple threads. I was in the process of building a TE with KDSS, so I was prepared to wait, but got lucky when a buyer backed out of the deal. Didn't need to wait a couple weeks for it to be built & shipped, & it was exactly what I was looking for. Purchased on 02/20/16 with 2 miles and the plan was to keep it as stock as possible, but that's changing rather quickly. Pretty much going to build a "fun" daily driver that will also see a couple of trails. I've owned a (stock) 4th gen. before, so it sure does feel good to be back in a 4Runner. Looking forward to meeting you all! Exactly the same place i picked mine up .... only place in CA that had one at the time.... Good Luck with the build

Small little update, picked up some N-Fab Nerf Bars & AVS window visors. I was actually looking for sliders, but I couldn't find any that would fit the budget right now, also I won't be hardcore wheeling...yet.
In the future, once I get more off road experience, I'll definitely start looking for some. I was thinking the Rocky Road Super Sliders, they seem to be the most budget friendly? http://40.media.tumblr.com/441318aca...9zno1_1280.jpg http://40.media.tumblr.com/c281a3070...9zno2_1280.jpg http://41.media.tumblr.com/b2746f02b...9zno4_1280.jpg http://40.media.tumblr.com/74aae1326...9zno3_1280.jpg |
Hey everyone, I've done research regarding all the different leveling kits and it came down to Daystar or Toyotec (still open to options). For now, I just plan to lift he front to get it leveled with the rear, so my question is, which would be my best bet, 1", 1.5", 2", 2.5"?
I apologize in advanced, since I'm still new to lifts. |
Like to see a pic once you get the visors on.

Definitely need to take some measurements before I buy some suspension. |

Not much has been going on, been busy with work & haven't had any time on the weekends to hit the trail and "baptize" my car  On a brighter note, my Maxliner floor mats & Level 8 wheels came in :clap2: I'm still debating on which tires to go with as my driving will be 90% highway 10% off road, probably try to go twice a month. I'm between Falken Wildpeak A/T3W's or Hankook Dynapro's, but I'm still open to other suggestions.

Went to go install my wheels yesterday  I ended up going with Falken Wildpeak A/T3W's in 265/70/17. I was really impressed with the fitment, it sits pretty flush with the fender. Next time around, I'll probably go with 275/70, but I'm content for now. The Falken's ride much better than the stock Dunlop's & looks 10x better :bravo:
I knew I was going to rub on the fender liner & mud flap, but it's not a big deal. Just moved the liner forward, and removed the mud flap. Not rubbing anymore, problem solved :thumb3: At the moment, I'm looking into a lift kit & will probably go with Toyotec, just need to do some measurements at work to make sure I can clear the parking structure, since it's pretty low. http://40.media.tumblr.com/da8e9be90...9zno1_1280.jpg http://40.media.tumblr.com/97743368a...9zno2_1280.jpg http://36.media.tumblr.com/a8ad806a8...9zno1_1280.jpg |
Love the MK6 in gunmetal!

Looking good so far!
I am subbing to this one for all of the excellent photos I hope to keep seeing. |
Thanks a lot everyone! I guess I spoke too soon, after doing the fender liner mod and removing the mud guard, I'm still getting rubbing at full lock :noidea: I might just end up trimming the actual bumper itself or just never go full lock

Got into work early this morning to take some measurement while the parking structure was still empty. The entrance into the parking structure is approximately 92" and entrance to the second floor through the "fire protection" door is approximately 79".
Haven't taken a measurement of my car yet, but I've been doing research & reading online that it's about 71"-72" stock? Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm planning to do a basic lift, probably a 2.5/1.5. What do you guys think, would I clear? *There are brand new stock LX's & GX's, & Sequoia's fitting easily, and I believe they are taller than the 4runner in stock form. |
