Looks good. Can I ask, what exhaust/muffler system did you go with?

Squirt 03-27-2016 08:24 PM

Holy crap! Poor girl.. definitely wasn't as loved as the PO wanted you to think she was! Looks like you'll make her come back to life though..

Thanks! She's a good platform to revive. Caught her at the edge.

And to be honest the theme here is oem+ so just stuck with that (I'll check receipt for specifics, but definitely wasn't genuine Toyota...$$$). Thought about that Borla muffler in the tune up guide for $40 but figured refreshing her is more important to me than any mods at this point.

Everything I do is noticeable so it's a good feeling even just replacing stock parts.

Yup. I've met a lot of interesting characters in searching.

This guy Had a lacrosse ball shoved onto the shifter...claimed the stock knob material was rubbing off on his hand. First thing I did was put the stock knob on. No rubbing. Feels great.

Reminds me of the start of my build except no rust and 100k more miles. Good luck with it!

mark21742 03-28-2016 09:30 AM

I have a feeling I'll be reading and needing to do most of this on mine!

All driveline fluids drain/fill completed today.

Mileage: 151,400

Rear diff: Mobil 1 75W-90 (2.6 quarts)
Transfer Case: Mobil 1 75W-90 (1.1 qt)
Manual Transmission: Redline MT-90 (2.3 qt)
Front Diff: Mobil 1 75W-90 (1.2 qt)

Sheared 10mm Hex drain plug on the front diff. Used T-45 Torx bit, hammered into plug and removed no issues. Noted to replace with new plug next time.

Speaking of replace...this is why you do all of this if it's never been before (front diff magnetic drain plug):

Shifting feels incredible compared to before. Big difference. Very solid feel especially 1st to 2nd around town before the job.

Bonus: Never know what you'll find when you remove the skid plate...thought I'd have to buy a new battery bolt. You don't want to know what po used to hold the thing in...
