Seattle206's 2014 SR5 Thread
Picked up my 2014 SR5 Premium non-3rd row on Black Friday 2014. Only '14 model left on the lot at Toyota of Kirkland. I got a great deal compared to the freshly unloaded 2015 SR5 base models. I bought it without doing any research on the other 5th gen trims. I had no idea what a Trail or TRD Pro was at the time, just needed a reliable BOF 4x4 midsized SUV. If I were to do the purchase again, I'd go with the same SR5 Premium or a Trail Premium(Non-KDSS). TRD Pro doesn't interest me nor the KDSS system. At first I had no intentions on modifying it as I thought I put those days behind me... How wrong was I. This is my first 4x4 as I previously owned small sporty cars; WRX, IS350 and an M3.
It's my DD, camping, fishing and "offroading" rig. I bought this thing to actually use it's benefits. I do all the wrenching on it myself and only resort to a specialized shop if the install requires tools or expertise I don't have. The thing has been paid off so might as well have some fun playing with it. It's a slow, heavy, clumsy, people hauling machine but it's reliable and I love driving it. Update May 2025: Rarely visit this forum anymore but after 11 years of ownership and miles of daily/trail usage my SR5 has done me well. Still no issues at all. Just regular maintenance and inspection of the vehicle. Picked it up new on 11/28/2014 Black Friday. First things I did were HIDs, 35% front tint, N-fab nerf bars, and RCI front skid. Also plastidipped the lower valance area.

Ordered RCI front filler plate that Josh powder coated red. Went with Level 8 MK6 wheels ET0 17x8 and wrapped with Cooper ATP 285/70/17 from Discount Tires. Cranked the front to 2.5" on oem coils and added 1.5" Daystar spacers to the rear. |

Took it out to Banks Lake in eastern Washington for 3 days to test the 5100s by driving through miles and miles of mangled, rutted, dirt roads. Good 4HI exercises. Handled great even with preloaded oem coils and spacers in the rear. |
I like the color combo you went with. Silver with splash of red. I myself and looking into some 5100's

Added these cool vinyl's to my truck. Thanks to T4R member, Tigger. I believe he is only other member who has a set on his rig. I've received and continue to receive a lot of compliments on them. Went out to the coast and did some fishing/crabbing. Hammered Rockfish and crab during my camping trip also caught a few keeper Lingcods. |

How my rig looked. Love the cargo space with the non-3rd row option. Fits all my rods, nets, coolers and totes with ease. |

After I finished installing the TRD Pro trim pieces I took it took to the mountains for a little warm up. Nothing like some hot barrels!

Got me an OEM Trail hood from a T4R owner practically for free! Came off a 2011 silver TE. I felt the SR5's front end was too plain and lacking but added the TE hood so it looks more "complete". All useless upgrades but pleases me aesthetically. |

No pics of the install but I switched out the factory coils off my 5100s and added OME 2884 front and 2895Es for the rear. Also added 1/4 Headstrong spacers to give the front end a near 3" lift. Alignment dialed in and hit some trails! |
Hi man just saw your thread. I haven't seen any likes ! But I do like your truck. I think you went all out like a ghetto blaster with all those pics !
Haha did you use dollar bills to light up that fire while shooting in the woods ? Peace :) I too like to shoot also, might just post a vid on how to cut trees with a 12 gage ! |

After installing my OME coils I got my 3/4 Prinsu rack. Took off the factory roof rack, washed, polished and waxed my roof. I had some trouble with it at first because the wind fairing would not clear my moonroof. It held on the window and prevented it up tilting upwards. Easy fix though. Happy with the rack due to its modular design. |
