Granny - SOLD

Hello Classic Folks! Just getting started on a thread for my recently purchased 1988 22RE Auto. I affectionately call my 5th gen "LE MAE", so meet "GRANNY". Cornball factor of 10, but I treat these trucks like family. Lean on em hard but always take care of em! Gotta do some research and see what package and options came on her.

Nice truck! Auto tranny is a dog and expensive to fix but manual swap is easy when that happens. Congrats

Thank you Sir! And yeah Lol, as long as there is no uphill or headwind, click the ECT to power and OD off, it does OK. The Florida boys are already hittin me w the SAS and W56 recommendations lol. Oh the money I could spend.

Sas is a must for offraod but if your not going to trail ride it a lot then keep the IFS just be prepared to replace all sorts of ball joints and tie rods every 2 years.

W56 with a VW turbo diesel is easy and a great option along with the 3.4L when the time comes to do engine work both are great and reliable!

Yes sir! I saw the you tube mason jar test on that diesel awhile back. Pretty cool stuff. I'm partial to the 3.4 though, my buddies Tacoma is running brand new and still powerful at 208K. Already looking at SAS down the road too lol. Pretty good Yota community here in Fl.
fb page devoted to trucks and 4runners for sale as well as parts. Lot of axles go through that page. Right now the old girl is gonna get a tune up and a safety once over to be a DD. I've gone Group Buy crazy grabbing up a Dual Shock Total Chaos kit w the LCAs and King secondaries for my 5th gen. So while LE is being worked on GRANNY gets the DD duties. I may shore up some small rust spots in the short term but for right now she's gonna get pampered.

Already working on swapping a TDI into my buddy's truck it's that impressive he went and got a TDI car for the swap the day after he road in my truck lol

Been working on Granny a little. She is running pretty good. No CELs for a couple hundred miles now.

but she still has the warm start issue.

I might have accidentally fixed Granny's warm start issue. I don't have her registered so she doesn't get to play other than a quick drive down the road for a mile or two every couple of months. So the battery cables were getting corroded, and I took them all apart to clean. I decided to replace a wire and connections (battery -neg terminal to body ground) that looked suspect, and that is the only thing I can figure that fixed the warm start issue. She has restarted warm now on several different occasions. I hope that was it.

Trucks look great!

Whats the deal with the warm start issue? Sometimes thats the signs of a dying fuel pump.
