Real world MPG with small lift and all terrain tires?
 

I know MPG stuff has been talked about a lot, and I apologize for a rehash but I couldn't find answers to this specific question.

We're considering a GX to be a daily driver and family camping/towing vehicle. I've found a 2007 with 155k and good service history that I am considering buying this weekend.

My plan for the vehicle would be converting to coil springs and achieving a small lift (2-3"), and installing a set of fairly mild 32" all terrains, probably Cooper AT3.

Cruising around 70-75mph, what type of MPG is realistic with a small lift and slightly larger/heavier tires than stock?

I had an '05 for a little while and I remember getting about 18MPG combined.
Not too bad for a heavy BOF vehicle.
Our 2017 gets 20 combined. I was pleasantly surprised.

I have some offroad mileage in here - I also live in northern NJ, and often accelerate accordingly...traffic patterns here are ridiculous.

255/75R17 Duratracs, 2-3" lift (don't have before/after measurements - it's Ironman's Foam Cell Pro kit with "B" springs).

2”/1” Billsten and FJ springs, 265/70-17 KO2 E’s (@39 lbs) and I’m averaging 13.7 unadjusted.

3/27/18 update: finally did a 95% hwy drive Vegas to so cal 16.2 mpg

2016 with 35" (315/70/17) BFKO2 and 4,56 gears. At 70 mph the rpm is about 40-50 rpm higher then original.
I get 16 mpg at 70mph. If I go to 80mph would drop to 14.5 pretty fast.

I get roughly 18.3mpg lifted on 33’s. 99% highway commute @70ish mph. Anything over 70 and it drops like a rock.

Mine is pretty close to this. I have KO2's 285/60/18's without a lift and I get about 16-17 mpg at 70mph. Problem is that I'm usually going 80mph when allowed on the interstate, and my mpg's seem to drop a bit.

I recently picked up a 470. I've found that MPG really depends on type of driving and driver. Mostly highway and keep it under 80mph and I think the 470 does great. As soon as you get into city driving even if you baby it mpg plummets.

I've been averaging around 13.5 mpg and 50-60% street driving, and I usually cruise at 80-90mph when on the freeway. I did a 120 mile drive all highway, i reset the computer and managed to average 17.5 mpg, again driving 80-90mph

I just added a set of 285 KO's so we'll see how that goes. Will update this thread.

That can be said about any vehicle ha. I think it would be more noteworthy if your MPG split was producing extreme numbers.

I guess I should've been more clear. My other vehicles are much closer city to highway compared to the GX.

2016 3" front and rear 295/70/17 Ridge Grappler 14.5 avg according to the dash display. Never calculated by hand, not really anything I can do about it so is what it is!

I average 15-17, I have 255/80/17 Cooper St Maxx, 2 inch lift, and wood grain warrior roof rack

I've averaged about 15mpg on the way to vegas, 15N. If I just city drive, I only get 11mpg. I'm on 33" all terrain tires

It looks to me like the very last couple of years were getting a hair better mpg

Contrary to what some are saying here, my 07T4R 2wd gets about the same regardless of where I drive. It gets 2mpg better, average, if I run high grade and high octane, but otherwise, its sensitivity is to jackrabbit drive-off. if you floor it pulling away from every stop it would cut by 30%. Seems to 'dump' fuel advance-timing etc like the good old days.

I was just checking a video series yesterday you guys may have seen called "Overland". anyway the guy is aussie or brit and was driving a rigged GX470 here in the American west fully loaded with gear and said he was getting a solid 10mpg.
