17x9 -38mm + 285s on 2.5" of lift...
Welp, I'm about to pull the trigger on some very wide wheels. I've been doing tons of research on the forums, trying to see how much work one has to do to clear such a setup.
This wide of wheel with that much offset is effectively moving the wheel out 3 inches! I understand that I will be in body mount chop territory, and also moving the fender liners around. I also plan on running stock UCAs, stock front bumper... What do you think? Doable? |
you are going to rub a lot. I had to do a BMC, push the front fender liner forward, and push my caster forward and raise my vehicle up 3 inches, and then I still rubbed on the lower fender cap (behind the mudflaps), which hides the pinch seams, so I chopped that. I had to push my front fender liner as far as I could to the front, and it still rubbed a hole, so I ended up getting rid of a portion of the front fender liner, and since I did that, I chopped half of my front bumper off. So now I don't rub on road.....Offroad, I rub a little at the pinch seam when I stuff a tire into the fender. IT doesn't happen often but when it does, I feel like
The irony is that once u do all this, you can fit 295s or 285/75's....lol. Anyways, I would do all this over again, but I would jump straight to 295s or 285/75s...(not 285/70) P.S. You don't have to chop your bumper...i Just did it b/c I literally was at the point that I might as well. |
Just chop it, cut the fender and possibly trim the pinch welds/valence caps. Everyone is so nervous about trimming off a litte worthless steel in here...but once you do it, it’s liberating.

i was hesitant to do a BMC... its like ripping off a band aid (stings for a couple seconds and your fine). "wide wheels":hand: jk i ran 11.5 on my BMW where I had millis to split between ruining fenders. Never got one:eyebrows: going scs huh? im trimming my weld tabs to fit F5s and 295s. |

SCS is -10 unless some other wheel they make is more. My Ray10s are -10. Didn't have to chop the steel, just push the fender liner forward and remove the mud flaps.
If I were you, I would replace the UCA's. |

Thanks everyone. I'm not scared to chop the body mount at all. Was just seeing what everyone's input would be on fitment. I'm ordering them right now.

The RG @ 295 are 64lbs... If I didnt run these I would run the TG MT's in 285 E which are 66lbs.. People run those without gearing if its a weight thing.... Im guessing it has to do more with the circumference thing |

I hate to revive this - but I must ask the experts
For these wheels - is a 33x12.5 out of the question? I have an Icon stage 2 and I dont mind chopping and trimming (within reason) |

38 is just under an inch and a half......I am running 17x9 and -12 plus a 1.25'' spacer which is an inch and a half! BMC, minor pinch adjustment and trimmed the mudflap backer in the wheelwell and kept my flaps! SPC arm at 4 caster though.
