I appreciate the discount offer. I was interested in the CBI skid plates but the lack of detailed pictures (especially the top) is a show stopper

TotalAutomotiveLV 02-22-2019 03:44 PM

We have seen a great response on the Skid Plates - Thank you!

We look forward to hopefully seeing some pics for members, but
are also working on getting some more to share ourselves as well.

CBI has updated their website to show install guide - Click Here

CBI Skids Plates vary in lead time depending on build.

They will confirm at 5-6 weeks for powder coat, but usually these
ship out in about 2-3 weeks.

CBI does offer Aluminum Skid Plates. Part #T4R5-SKID-FRT-PRO

Our website is being update to included Steel and Aluminum options

@TotalAutomotiveLV - What's the weight difference between a full set of steel vs. aluminum, please?

I emailed CBI and this is the response I got, I think this is just for the front skid alone but gives you an idea. The aluminum is roughly half the weight

"Steel is around 45-50 lbs and the aluminum is around 30"

silverslug 04-09-2019 01:38 AM

THANKS @57buick According to the CBI website, the 2 piece set weighs 180 lbs and would probably be worth that weight in gold when you hit a big piece of rock on the trail. I'm just curious how much you'd save with the Aluminum set ...

In fairness, a 1/4 aluminum skid should take that hit just as well as a 3/16 steel.

The difference would be in dragging the skids and in the frequency of use.

But I think what is often forgotten is that the most likely thing to hit when doing ledges/steps is the pax side rear lower control arm bracket as well as that control arm itself.

My pax side rLCA bracket skid has changed shape a few times in just one year--but the bracket is fine.

well that seems different from what I was quoted from them? I mean the rear skid could not be another 120 pounds?

Well my front and rear skids are arriving this morning in aluminum, Ill have to weigh them and see what I get.
