Whats the lead time on a 5th gen front skid,also can you get it in aluminum ?

I ordered mine last Tuesday and today Friday I just got tracking info!! They must have had some built already. I ordered the full aluminum skid package

According to the CBI website, the 2 piece set weighs 180 lbs and would probably be worth that weight in gold when you hit a big piece of rock on the trail. I'm just curious how much you'd save with the Aluminum set ...

In fairness, a 1/4 aluminum skid should take that hit just as well as a 3/16 steel.
The difference would be in dragging the skids and in the frequency of use. But I think what is often forgotten is that the most likely thing to hit when doing ledges/steps is the pax side rear lower control arm bracket as well as that control arm itself. My pax side rLCA bracket skid has changed shape a few times in just one year--but the bracket is fine. |
