Buying 4 Runner from rental car co.

Anyone purchase or attempted to purchase a used 4 Runner from Enterprise car rental? Thanks in ad advance. Corky

There is a dealer here that seems to be the middleman for rental fleet 4runners. Caught my attention because his prices seemed great and milage was low but info was lacking on the trucks so I checked him out and found they were all 2wd.

Down side is people treating the trucks like crap

Up side is rental agencies take pretty good care of the fleet and not many people rent SUVs

I have heard the savings are partially due to not having a third party involved in the sale,by purchasing directly from Enterprise.
I do have concerns about people being reckless with their rental but I also wonder about that whenever purchasing any used vehicles. I heard that Enterprise may offer a warranty.
Going to have to do more research.
Thanks for the reply.

Mine was a Enterprise rental. Bought a 08 in 09. Back then, guess a lot of people would rent them. Had 39k on it.
Condition appearance was good, maintained well. Hatchback window had a LOT of scratches in it was my only complaint.

Cloth seats? On used vehicles I like to use commercial grade steam cleaner with attachment to clean the seats and carpet. Do not use a cheap $100 steam cleaner. Helps get out the hidden funk. Best on a sunny day with a box fan to speed up the dry process.

I dont know if this is still a worry of someones...but...

i purchased my 2014 4Runner from a dealer who had my SR5 as a rental/test car. I was able to purchase it with 21K miles on it. they wouldnt certify-used car it, however i was able to get it with the full factory warranty remaining and a Toyo financing option if i had wanted it...and it was wonderfully taken care of by the dealer. The only thing wrong with it were scuffs on the deck of the rear bumper from people loading and unloading something, and the driver lumbar didnt work/fixed under warranty.

my savings...a brand new Runner was $35K at the time/in 2014
i paid $27.5K out the door.

im at 111K miles now, and have had no problems what so ever.

i looked at one and they are not that far away in price from brand new for a low km one
i'll pass on the rental

I worked for a rental company. I worked in rental and with selling to dealerships. There are good and bad parts of buying a previous rental. I think the price is so close that I would prefer to buy a non-rental.

I guess it depends on your area?

I guess it depends on your area? In parts of the US like California, the markup on new 4 runners is crazy. A slightly used one could be a better deal.

I bought a 2013 with 40,000 miles. Still had a few years under warranty. I have never had a problem with it. Now I would never buy a sports car through them though. I doubt anyone rents a 4Runner to smoke the tires.

You guys are lucky, every time I tried to rent a Toyota 4WD, in the PNW, there were not any available back in 2006 winter.

How did all of you treat the last rental car you had? I rest my case.
