3rd Gen Bolt-On Replacement Cat?

Any vendor/brand recommendations for a 3rd Gen fully bolt-on catalytic converter replacement? Not looking to spend that much. They're super cheap on eBay but I'm somewhat skeptical (like $120 cheap).

Due to a stinky muffler leak, I'll be swapping out my entire exhaust with a pre-fab bolt-on setup, so replacing the cat with one of these would eliminate the need for welding.

DO NOT buy the $120 ebay cat. You are literally paying less because it is a smaller cat. You'll realize the issue when you're going down the highway at 70 and there's a LOUD AF drone under your passenger's floorboard. Also this piece of shit is rattling 7 months later. Not worth even half of what it costs.

I have a Walker cat on my other 4Runner. Much much much much much better. The difference in price is peanuts once you actually have to drive the 4Runner. The heat shields will eventually rust off. At least it comes with heat shields. Hit the whole thing with rustoleum BBQ paint before installing.

I figured the quality would be like you stated... Actually found a Walker bolt-on on Amazon for $211. No brainer at that price. I thought they were $400 but was apparently looking at the wrong model number! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1

I have the cheap ebay cat, I only bought it because my stock cat was rusted by the flange and leaking. no drone, cel, or poor performance and I figure if it causes any issues down the road I'll gut it and make an o2 simulator. I actually bought the parts to make a simulator when I purchased the cat just in case I had any issues

I just figured that the cheap cat costs about as much as having someone make me a decent quality test pipe, which was my original plan. the welds and thickness of the tubing are good and that's all i care about

I broke my new Walker cat in half in a 6 months, I put my original 20 yr old cat back in. I may just straight pipe it, no smog in my state anything over 14 yrs old.

LCEngineering makes a version that bolts in, and high flow replacements as well.

I am running a bolt in replacement from them, its a couple of years old now and still seems to be just fine. The one I have went on with a long-tube header, so my truck did get louder with the install, but I'm pretty sure more of that is due to the header than the cat.

I'm at 14 months and 15K miles on Bosal replacement cats on my '99. Not a single issue. I got mine from Rock Auto, everything lined up perfectly and went together as easily as it possible could have.

My 4runner has two cats. Will this work on mine?

Myjar89:

Had to do the entire exhaust on my 2000 sr5 with Cali emissions

I went carb compliant:

Replaced both O2 sensors and I did the muffler kit as well as at this point as it was shot as well, make it all work together as a set up to avoid issues down the road,

Runs so much better.

I used Walker 53287 on my 99 non-cali emissions.

Been a year and 20k miles, no issues so far.

$197 shipped from eBay
