TheRetroFitSource Morimoto LED projector fog lights

Anyone have these?

How is the light?
Easy install as it looks?

Cheers

Yup. 100% plug and play and adjustable. Light output is good, and color is white. Don’t expect rigid/Baja levels of brightness, but for the price you can’t beat it. They also look much better than stocks especially if you have led/hid head lights.

Side note. The beam pattern is a like a wide spot, and not a flood pattern. For driving in the fog I’ve come to like this more than I expected.

I've had them in mine for about 6 months now and they are great!! Nice white light, wide beam pattern and way more light output then stock. Had to trim the mounting tabs just a tad but fit right in with no issues. Love the blacked out housing during the day as well. You won't regret the purchase.

I’ve had mine for two years. You need to replace the mounting bracket that comes on them with the stock one. Pretty easy though. Haven’t had a single problem. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2eb64bc049.jpg

Or just trim the inside ear of the bracket that come on them, and they slide right in the bumper slot.

Could you say a little more on this?
What exactly you are trimming?

Thanks

Sure. The fog light housings mount with 2 tabs that slide into slots on the bumper cover and then 2 screws on the other side. The slots on the 4Runner cover are narrower (closer together) then other Toyotas I assume. You just need to trim the tabs on the Moromoto housings down just a little so that they slide easily into the slots on the bumper cover. They are plastic and only take a few minutes to do.

I didn't have to trim anything for mine, I slid the non-screwed tabs inside first, then screwed down and everything lined up perfect. I didn't use the stock brackets either

Well that's interesting. I could make them fit into the slots but it bowed the plastic bracket and caused a larger gap between the light and trim piece. I wonder if something changed since mine is a '16. HID Kit Pros even told me I might have to modify the brackets some. There is a thread on how to modify on here somewhere as well.

your photos above could be misleading, and I'm not trying to give you any OCD, but it looks like the XBs sit further back, especially on the outer edges, than your stock lights did. that's what mine did, and why i swapped them to the factory brackets.

to OP, the XBs are great.

I forced my tabs into the slots at first, screwed them down and then thought about it, pulled them out and took a little off the tabs with the bench grinder, perfect fit now. they do sit back in about 1/4" but I couldn't see pulling them out again and switching the housing over 1/4". I do like the wide light pattern.

I'm debating between these Morimoto XB's and the Diode Dynamics SS3 Fogs

I have a whole folder of 4Runner's saved on my laptop and I'm pretty sure this guy has the SS3's or at least something similar looking so I can imagine mine with them on. @dr_monkeypants or @dr-monkeypants

I didn't have to trim anything. They fit fine in my 2019

For those of you who swapped out the brackets for the stock ones...how hard was that to do and what is the process?
