Baja Designs Squadron Sport Flush Mount Pods

I have tint, and sometimes it’s hard to see out when in reverse using only the stock lights.

I also will work around my vehicle at times (front and back), and there is no real way to light up behind the vehicle aside from opening the hatch (which isn’t always the best to actually use).

I’m thinking of placing the Squadron Sport Flush Mount “Work Scene” pods in the rear as indicated in the below picture:

A few questions:

1. I believe I’ve seen someone do this (has been some time ago), but can’t find their pictures/any install info. Anyone know who it was?

2. Is there a way to have these light up when in reverse, AND be able to operate independently on a switch in my cockpit?

3. Does anyone have experience with the length of the harness (both the length for running it to the front of the vehicle from the rear, but also the length of wiring BETWEEN the lights) which Baja says you have to order to make these work? I emailed this question to their support, but haven’t heard anything back in almost a week.

Yes - I’m aware cutting into the stock bumper is somewhat frowned upon, etc, etc, but I’m not buying a steel bumper anytime soon, and this is certainly going to help function-wise.

I believe the ones I saw on here somewhere were Rigid SRQ's. Ill poke around and see if I can find the post.

I do recall a member installing in similar location, I'll check this out too. My college roommate did this for his FJ Cruiser (pretty sure you know him too), but I'm not sure if he went so far as to connect them to the reverse lights. He used Rigid flush mounts.

This may be helpful (4th gens ahead) Show me your aux reverse lights

Yes, I don't see this as being an issue. You'll need two separate inputs. One with the trigger being the power from either the trailer reverse lights wire harness, or the reverse light in the housing just above your desired mounting point, and a separate trigger wired to a switch on the dash like normal. Should be pretty easy to do.

That sounds pretty bogus to me, but I'll let someone with more electrical experience answer this with more confidence.

Took matters into my own hands and got it done. Will get the installation write up done before long, but wanted to get this pic uploaded for all to see.

Was easier than I thought it would be!
