Are new OME shocks supposed to look like this?

Hey everyone,

So when buying my lift, I had a bunch of spare Amazon gift cards so I went ahead and purchased OME 90021 shocks from Amazon. This is how they look out of the box. There are chips and weird issues with the quality of the finish. As far as I know there is not an issue with counterfeit OME shocks but I'm wondering if this is normal. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Amazon purchase? Looks like a customer return//.
Return and get another set.

You probably just purchased some made-in-china counterfeits from Amazon. I'd stick to reputable shops for such an important purchase. I never buy anything "Big" from Amazon, they've got a major issue with fake goods.

They look ok to me. They're very cosmetic minor blemishes. I would have no hesitation installing them. I agree they could be presented a little better, but shock performance is not going to be affected in any way by a tiny paint chip or a booger in the paint.
I'm running OME on my 3rd gen and have used them on other vehicles in the past.

Not the greatest but it looks fine. The finish on the OME shocks are certainly not the best. I probably wouldn't bother me and wouldn't affect performance at all. Really though, in about a year you'll get a lot of pitting in the paint anyways. That's just normal with OME shocks.

Original OME from replical selling facilities dont have OME color schemes on there bushing and sleves.

Probably bulk buys from marketers that get a discount and do install of bushings then color coat them. As to the bottom bushing being color coated.

Maybe send pic to OME and ask if seller on Amazon is authorized OME distributor, or if they've had issues with knock-offs? Then return to Amazon if they report those to be knock-offs.

I dunno... agree with OP's concern, for what I understand to be a reputable high(er) end brand, that is piss poor workmanship. Even truly cheap shocks I've bought in the past looked higher quality (on the outside) than that.

Thanks for the input guys. I decided to go ahead and just request a refund from Amazon and see what happens. It's past the return period but Amazon is usually pretty good with this stuff.
I ordered the rear shocks locally and they don't exhibit these weird defects/imperfections. I can't find any information about OME shocks being counterfeited but rather be safe than sorry.
