T4R.org has helped me in so many ways, I am really thankful for this board. I had recently made a thread about things I wish Toyota would change in the 4Runner and one of the take aways is an automatic way to change the ambient lighting by adding a light sensor to the non-TRD Pro/Limited trucks. A user on here posted a link to the ebay sale that had the sensor for $5 vs. $100 at the dealer. The item took 5 weeks to come in and granted it doesn't have at Toyota stamp on it, it is identical.

Sorry this is my first "DIY" so please ignore the rawness of it.

Is this sensor works also with the lights?
If not where is the sensor (or what's the part number) for those lights (changing from DRL to low beam)?

Awesome discovery. Does this sensor also control the auto head lights for the Limited? If it does I wonder if we can just change the control stalk to a Limited one. :hail:

not all 4runners years have a wiring harness under that cap.

Will this work on a 2015 SR5 Premium? (Canada)

Does this just dim interior dash lights? Or does this automatically turn on/off the headlights as well?
