Spring clunk?

So ripping apart the front to do my lower control arm I noticed the spring isn’t facing straight back like in the service manual, can this create a clunk up front? I have new steering guide, lower ball joint, sway bar buchings and end link, power steering bushings. Only things left I haven’t touched are the upper ball joint (which has no play and seems solid) and upper control arm bishing(also seem solid)

Can you post a picture of what you're talking about?

Steering shaft is known to clunk over bumps.

I've had an odd clunk in my 2018 that I've not yet tracked down. I've eliminated shock mounts and other items so I'll go search on the steering shaft clunk. Thanks for the interesting lead.

I think he meant the steering shaft is a known clunk for 3rd gen 4Runners. Good luck with your 5th Gen

Only generally near full droop. As long as the knuckle isn't contacting the spring (you'd see a worn spot on the spring), that is unlikely to be the source of the noise.
