Bears in big bear

Anyone have experience with fridge freezers in Holcomb valley or fawn skin area in reference to bears? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I think big bear is pretty bear-free these days.

Hey! I was just out driving in Holcomb and I don't know if you're still looking for an answer but...
Are you staying inside your car, or in a tent? Bears aren't particularly aggressive out here (as in, I don't expect them to break into your car) but they do have bear boxes at some of the campsites which I'd take advantage of. Better to keep your food separate from where you're sleeping. My brother has a Dometic cooler so bears can't sniff him out, but chances are the larger wildlife won't give you any trouble so long as you're not grilling up fish. Also... if you're just doing a day trip and hiking/ or bouldering away from your car just keep things properly sealed and you'll be okay. Hope this helps! See you on the trail. |
You can always just throw a towel over your cooler/fridge at night if it's in the truck. That'll make it not so obvious.
