NY/CT trails to test my New 4R on?

I live on the NY/CT boarder and CT does not seem to have any trails. I was wondering if anyone knew of some in the NY area since there seems to be a few in NY. Thinking closer to Duchess area. I'm familiar with Hunter Mountain area, but the trail there seem to be by appointment.

Ideas for a simple day trip?

I haven't been up there since the mid-90's. Great times-

Yeah there are few on YouTube. Apparently you're not allowed and some of it is pretty intensely awesome. Not really something for my first off-road ride. lol

I'm in for info too, new to me 3rd gen 4runner incoming and I'm looking to put it to good use. From what I've researched so far, CT and NY are not ideal- really have to go to VT and NH. But if anyone knows of fun & legal "beginner" options in this area let us know.

Only place i found, and good for beginners is Hunter Mountain NY where they have day trips with a guide.

Yup - that looks like fun, but $299 for the day outing is a bit steep! Was just looking for somewhere to go mess around a bit, at least to start.
