Moving on...but staying in the "Toyota family"

Hey all – quick note of thanks for the help and support as I built “Frosty” my (old) 4Runner and also a goodbye!

After struggling with the lack of rear air conditioning for my dogs for the 2nd full summer, I finally decided to sell my 2017 heavily modified TRDP and “upgrade” to something else.

Thanks to Eric Sarjeant (a HUGE supporter of the Toyota 4x4 community) at Ed Martin Toyota, I will be moving into one of the "leftover" 2019 Magnetic Grey Land Cruisers. So far, my build will be a bit “deeper” than my 4Runner:
  • OME BP-51 Suspension - medium springs up front/heavy in back
  • SPC UCA’s
  • BFG KO’s in 305/65-18’s (biggest I can run AND fit in stock spare location while I figure out what to do in back)
  • TRD BBS Forged wheels
  • ARB Bullbar with Warn 12k and Baja LP9’s
  • Front Runner Slimline II - trying to fit a Gobi ladder with it
  • Baja 40” Amber/White bar on roof rack
  • ARB Safari Snorkel
  • Slee Sliders
  • 12.5gal LRA Aux Tank
  • ARB’s and 4.3 Nitro gears Front & Rear
  • ARB Dual Compressor
  • Dual Odyssey Battery’s controlled by Rearc DCDC
  • Chrome “deleted”
  • Rock lights – also act as puddle lamps
  • USB’s upgraded/rewired for 4.8V

Thinking I’m going to use SDHQ’s dash panel to mount a Switch Pros to control my various added circuits. Will evaluate adding the ditch light brackets from SDHQ with some more ambers if I find I’m wanting anything extra. Seriously considering either Total Chaos or Icon for upper/lower rear arms and debating Bud Built vs ARB for my skids. Lastly, there are far fewer options for rear bumpers compared to 4runners, so I’m going to wait for Slee to finish theirs and compare it to the other 2 out there, but not rushing into anything yet.

Thank you @Clrems77 for purchasing my 4Runner – made me feel good to see how much he seemed to like the truck and I know it’ll provide him years of adventures/great memories.

Finally – will be selling my old Rock Monsters, and some other stuff I have in my garage – watch the classifieds…I’ll be lurking there for a while ;-)

Take care and see ya around!

And thank you K9 for entrusting “Frosty” to my family 😂 She’ll be well cared for and put to the test on the weekends! Looking forward to seeing your new build and hopefully one day hitting the trails with you 🤙🏻

I hope you stop back over and post some pics of that LC when it’s finished .

Congrats OP and great choice. I think about doing the same a lot. We currently have a 2019 LX570 on 33's that the misses drives but it's staying stock. I would love to build out a proper late model 200, it's my fear of commitment that keeps me from dropping the coin on such a build. Eric does a great job of rolling in all of the parts/build on top of selling the vehicle at or even back of invoice. Looks like you chose every single option he offers haha, it's going to be a sick build. Put a proper storage system in the back along with a fridge and Slee or Dissents new rear bumper with swing outs and you sir will have one of the nicest 200's in the states. From a $50k rig to a $100K rig just like that, super jelly.

The drawer system may have to get passed by - the main use of the back area and reason for my upgrade is my pups. Given they are big boys (Newfoundland and a Golden), not sure they will have enough head room if I install the drawers...but I'm going to take a few measurements once I have the truck in hand. The rear bumper/carrier is a must, if I ever want to go bigger on tires...just want to wait and see what options are out there...or if I'll have a custom one built.

There are a few options on Eric's "build menu" I didn't select...but not many ;-)

You should see the beast he recently built on 35's with an extensive electrical upgrade/drawers/able to accept shore power/fridge coming/etc.

Crap, so you were the guy that got the Gray one I was considering. Ahhh well.

How convinced are you that the A/C in the back will work for the pooches?

If the rear AC works half as well as my old Cayenne or wife's Navigator, should be a perfect solution for the difficult combination of upscale interior, reliable, off road (and deep snow) capable, and decently powered...with enough room for a Newfie (or 2 - working on my wife for another) and our Golden.

Seems like the black interior is getting hard to find in the leftovers, especially without the rear ent system, which my dogs really wouldnt enjoy anyway :D

T4R must have had a hiccup last night - got 6 notices about old threads, so I thought I'd check in.

Switch over to my LC is complete (still need to install my skids and a few rear suspension tweaks):

Great update K9 HAULR! Look's awesome!

I'm interested in following your new build............Do you have a link to a new build thread elsewhere?

Good luck man!

Thanks. I have not written up the modifications this time thru (lost track of how many trucks I've built over the years and I'm building a FJ40 concurrently), but have a fairly extensive photo library/documentation of what I've done. I did a few things different than on my 4Runner:

- went OME instead of Icon (adding Trail Tailor or Total Chaos rear arms)
- trying a Front Runner rack (quicker, cheaper, and more accessories than Gobi)
- dual battery install using Redarc BCDC (might still add a Blue Sea ACR)
- installed/hid switch pro control in overhead sunglass holder
- added a rear fuse box and several accessory plugs in bottle jack location
- re-geared to 4.3's to compensate for the bigger tires and weight
- ARB's front and rear
- BudBuilt skids and Slee sliders (LC after market products WAY fewer than 4Runner offerings)
- ARB front bumper (aka "deer deflector")
- LRA 12.5g aux tank

Other stuff like tires/wheels get changed like shoes/socks

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

You did all those mods that fast?

Wow, lol. Pretty awesome I say.

That LC looks real nice, love those things. If I were to get a full sized SUV, the LC would be it.
