Side Mirrors (14+)

Hey guys--

I have 14+ aftermarket side mirrors on my 2011 TE. They are powered for mirror control, but they don't have the signals built into them.

Then, I found on Car Trim Home that they're making sequential replacement lights for those with the signals built into the mirrors. I dig the look and would like to pick them up, but my assumption is that I'd need the harness that runs through the door panel into the signal controls.

Any suggestions on how to achieve that or what harness I need to be looking for?

We've all been patiently waiting on the harness to be released from @Old Red . You can read up where we are currently on this issue in the following threads.

Damn dude, what a coincidence and shame on me for not searching the forum beforehand. Thanks - I'll subscribe to the other thread!

You also could just tap the turn signals

And I don't disagree but with Oldred's harness you get the connector that cannot be purchased that matches the OEM TRD PRO mirror 5-pin. Then he has done all the research as to where the (4)four wires land to serve the walk up puddle lights and turn signals within the door.

If you know where to land the puddle lamps power wire, I could probably come up with a writeup myself.

You can find power and ground locations for puddle lamps here: http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/...17-4runner.pdf

Yes, if you are looking for the grounding points, etc. the OEM wiring diagrams will give it to you. The only reason to go with the harness I am making is if you want a plug and play solution without having to mess with the factory harness. So it can be DIY, or you can go with a harness set when they are released after Labor Day. Either way will get you the desired result.

So I went ahead and worked through the wiring diagrams to understand the connections as provided above. What follows is a quick and dirty connection to provide the rough signal wires and a not so clean installation. Personally I can continue to wait a few more weeks to see what @Old Red's research comes up with as running all these wires all over the dash instead of within the door doesn't sound as appealing.
  1. Puddle Lamps:
Pin #7 and #8 of the 11-pin Premium mirror to be connected to FS1 pins #13 and #15 to provide constant +12V (FS1 pin #13) and a switched ground (FS1 pin #15) for the entry only lights.

  2. Turn Signal:
Pin #10 of the 11-pin Premium mirror to be connected to F11 pins #2 and #8 (respectively) to provide Driver Side Turn Signal (F11 pin #8) and Passenger Side Turn Signal (F11 pin #2).

Pin #11 of the 11-pin Premium mirror to be connect to the door grounding point.

Just to clarify, I'm a big fan of Old Red and all the things that he makes and researches for us 4Runner owners. The only reason I suggested tapping the turn signals was because OP was asking if he needed a whole different harness when he's already switched to the newer model mirrors. Just wanted to clarify that, I'm in no way trying to take away from what Tanner is doing, he's the man

I know I didn't take it as you were, and agreed he is definitely the man.

Do you still have the Original Trail Mirrors?

Not bad, I am sure it will cost 99$ like everything aftermarket does.
