rear license plate

so, after 10 months I went to take off my rear plate to wax and clear behind it. the screws were stuck. i finally got them out and coated with fluid film, a year later i took it off and the plate rusted on the paint. i got that off and yes the screws came out easy this time.

however what to do for the rust? i had the plastic plate from the dealer behind my plate but the bottom edge rusted and stained my truck. i found this on amazon, its a silicone holder for the plate. it has the added benefit of not rattling and makes the whole tailgate seem solid when i close it now

the only thing i will warn you of, the silicone holder is a tight fit and if you are not careful you will bend your plate

I put a strip of velcro behind the bottom of the plate. Made it a little tighter so it did not dance on the paint, rattle or wear it off.

I have this and it is a great solution. No rattle snug fit. There is a right-side-up, look for the drain slits along the edge.

You can get weatherproof license plate covers. I believe Weathertech makes one. For screws, either stainless steel or nylon.

Found that a few months back when i registered in the swmaps. Needed a holder that did not cover the plate. They work well. Just wish the TuRD had 4 screws to secure it.

Can I still use a license plate frame with this?

I just put the shitty plastic "I was completely screwed at douchebag automart" dealer plates behind my front and rear metal license plates. That's mostly to keep them from clattering, I long ago gave up on rust.

I just check and you absolutely can. Thank you for the idea.
