Bilstein 6112 clip position and lift heights

I didn't see any real world info, maybe others will search and keep this thread current. This is needed because what Bilstein lists for lift height/clip position simply isn't true.

https://i.imgur.com/7zpK9Am.jpg

At clip positions 6/7 I had 2.5" lift (claimed 1.6")
At clip positions 3/4 I have a 1.75" lift (claimed 0.7")

This is on a stock 99, no extra weight up front and 2" lift in the back with OME 906 springs. I ran about 100 miles, with 20 of those as fairly high speed washboard, before taking the initial measurement. No clue why I'm seeing numbers So far off from Bilsteins specs. But I'm not the only one..

Looks like another stock limited, but claiming clip positions 6/7 and a 1.9" lift.

Just be warned, you'll likely need to pull the shocks and springs after the initial install to get the right height. I'd advise starting 1 clip lower than they suggest unless you have a plate bumper + winch.

@Brian. What was your fender to hub measurement prior to lift? Which 6112's did you use, 4Runner or Tundra?

Fender height before lift was 20.5" all around, now just on either side of 23" (rear higher, front lower). I used the 4runner 6112's, the 47-258624 kit.

Al B.,

How do you like the Tundra 5100 and 890 coils? What clips did you put the 6112 on? I'm going to go with the 6112 up front for a 2inch lift, just trying decide what to put on the back.

Any hub to fender measurements?

Bumping this thread as Brian and I were having a conversation about 6112 clip settings in a different thread. It might be worth updating the original post in this thread with the following information.

Good grief, that's my biggest complaint. I have no clue what perch I ended up with because I had to change it 3 times. I was aiming for just Slightly taller than stock on a '99, minimal positive "rake". 3/4 I think, maybe that's where I started.

I honestly got so fed up with changing the heights that I simply quit. Not Exactly where I wanted it but heck if I'm changing it again for the small difference.

I wanted the 2.5" body for the extra oil (takes longer over rough terrain for fade ~ I was a suspension tech in decades gone Way by so sometimes I let my theoretical wants over-rule common sense). Makes complete sense that the Valving is the same as that is 100% reliant upon the spring rate.

I dug up some old posts that I found during my 6112 research. Below are some of the perch settings and corresponding ride heights that I found. Perch settings are listed with the driver side first.

9/8 Setting:
- 808Waterman: Level, but no additional lift info. OME 890 + 5100 in the rear.

8/7 Setting:
- BikeDestroyer: 8/7. Front 1/4" higher than rear. OME 906 + 5100s in the back. Appears to be running a rear bumper.
- bigcap76: 8/7. Front 1/2" higher than rear.. OME 906 + 5160s in the rear. Doesn't appear to be running a rear bumper.
- repo: 2.5" all around. OME 906 + 10mm rear spacer + 5100s in the rear.
- fixxor: 1.9". OME 906 + 5100 rear
- fixxor: 2" in the front. 2.5" in the rear. OME 890 + 5100 in the rear.

7/6 Setting:
- Brian: 2.5" of lift. OME 906 + 5160 in the rear
- jmferg: 1.9" of lift.

6/5 Setting:
- bigcap76: pre lift measurement from hub center to fender was 20". After setting on 6/5 setting, 2.25" of lift achieved
- Mint: 5100 Rear w/ ACDelco 45h2131 (99' Talls) & OME 10mm Rear Spacers... Totals for ~ 1.5" lift all around

6/4 Setting:
- georunner_sjc: Tasteful amount of lift. Front bumper with Eibach 1" Pro Lift springs (E30-82-006-05-02) with 5160s in the rear.

4/3 Setting:
- Brian: 1.75" of lift. Stock '99 with no extra weight. "Fender height before lift was 20.5" all around, now just on either side of 23" (rear higher, front lower)." OME 906 + 5160 in the rear.

Sheesh, I guess I should search my own posts then. :P

Just measured 20.75 on fronts and 22 rear drivers, 22.5 rear passenger (hub center to LTD fender flares). I've put about 2k miles on the 4runner since that first post, so there's a good bit of settling.

Might have to look at a 10mm spacer for the drivers side rear, wonder how much different the measurement is when I'm not 100% full on fuel.

I know this is an old thread, just wondering if anyone has any updated info. About to install my 6112's and OME 906 rear springs. I have 5100's in the rear about 3 yrs old I have 1.5" daystar spacers front and rear currently, not on OEM suspension mind you, have crappy Monroe shocks/struts in front with the daystars, been on about 4.5 yrs, (40 000 miles, less on the 5100's) have Moog replacement rear springs same age as the Monroes with the 5100's,I'll be ditching all but the 5100's and my airlift bags in the rear, my current measurements from my 2000 Limited centre hub to flare are:

Front Driver: 21 7/8"
Front Passenger: 22 3/16"

Rear Driver: 22 1/2"
Rear Passenger: 22 7/8"

So, the OME rears should get rid of the Taco lean out back and offsetting the height settings on the 6112's should take care of the front, I'm looking for a little rake 1/4" to 1/2" from Back to Front, assuming my rear height will increase by 1/2" after settling to about 23" to 23 1/4" as the 906 should be a 2" lift spring, what would anyone suggest I set the fronts to? Reading above there seemed to be a big drop in ride height from Brian's original measurements in the first post to a few months later after 2k miles, I'm thinking 7/6 or 6/5 on the fronts, any thoughts?

I set mine to the 2” setting up front. Same setup as you except 5160 rears.

No lean no sag, no anything. Just a nice even lift all the way around. Pair with some Duro bumps and life is good.

The Bilstein chart is posted a couple of posts back. I just followed that with new Monroe top hats. Those have the inner bushing already permanently mounted, took me a minute to figure that one out. Also, most of the individual redi rod style harbor freight strut compressors that are out there don’t work well on the 6112. You can get it, but it’s a bit of a fight because it binds.

There is also a driver and the passenger side on your 2906 springs.

Thanks! So, by the 2" Setting you mean #8/7 circlip location and with 2906 springs you're level all around?

I do have the Monroe top hats as well.

In the included instructions they mention that they are aware that aftermarket lift springs like OME compensate for the side to side lean compared to OEM.

Bilstein 6112 clip position and lift heights

@Drew76
I just followed the instructions for their clip settings up front. They recommended 2” lift coils for the setup.

Given Bilsteins culture of engineering, I felt it was a disservice to not follow their recommendations.

Id like to know what lift people are experiencing using the 6 driver/5 pass c- clip setting? Im currently using the 7 driver/ 6 pass setting and the trucks level with the 906/60028 OME combo in back. Im looking for a bit of rake since i have no weight up front..

Cheers..

I changed mine from 7/6 to 6/5, let it settle then got an alignment, I like a little rake too and I have about an inch.

Rear 22 1/2"
Front 21 1/2"

Been like this for close to a year.
