2000 v6- symptoms are as follows -
1- while idle the check engine light is solid and it doesn't sound like it's misfiring
2-while driving car shakes and misfires- check engine light flashes
3- shitty acceleration specially on highway speeds
4- can smell gas

First things first.... drive it as little as possible until you fix it. If you don’t fix your misfires ASAP... a fairly easy job can turn into a total loss if you ignore your engine codes. Even tho only 1-5 are misfiring, I’d replace all 6 plugs and coilpacks. Not too difficult. Just nuts and bolts. And don’t forget the anti-seize. Similar thing happened to my 05 Xterra and luckily I saved it in time. Try the plugs and coils first and see if it doesn’t fix everything else.

Also... might wanna grab some MAF cleaner and Deep creep for your throttle body and start cleaning any gunk out

I was told to look into electrical and a fuel injector as well as its weird that 4 out of the 6 cylinders are misfiring. I dont wanna throw money at it as I cant afford 500$ for a process of elimation type deal is there any way to rule out some of these ?

When was the last time you serviced your plugs and packs? Way I see it, they’re for sure bad and need replacement now. Might as well replace all 6 since you’ll be in there anyway. Rockauto lists plugs for $4-5/piece and coil packs are $20-40/piece. You’re looking at about $150-250... not 500 if you go in and do it yourself. Pretty easy and straightforward

Personally idt it’s the fuel injection... but for sure you’ll have to replace your plugs and coils since they’re misfiring. They’re toast. Since you’ll be in there... you could spend the $60 for a new injector. But that’s when the guessing games and POE begins. Plugs and coils... not POE.
