I did a thing... couldn’t resist...darn Bilstein.. lol!

Was literally just watching the raptors game and going through internet and saw an ad for Bilstein Canada .. now, I was never truly thinking about going with Bilstein but I typed in car make and model and turns out not only were they having a sale on the shocks for my 4runner there was a coupon code for Remembrance Day for an additional 10% off everything which expired T midnight .... I could not resist and so I purchased the 5100s for the front and back for an AMAZING PRICE !!!!... I’m so excited next will be ordering the springs and I’m looking at ome! Anyone have the 5100 Bilsteins? (Don’t burst my bubble, I wanna hear the good LOL) .. also what can we do about the common surface rust issue guys with the Bilsteins face? any other recommendations on springs etc? V8 T4R here .. 🙌🏼

I just put 5100s on my 4Runner 2 weeks ago. Transformed the car completely, much more responsive, less floaty, greatly reduced body roll and the ride is stiffer but not overly so. I also used the 2nd height setting, 1.75”, to level out the look. Totally worth it! I got mine on sale for $305 as well!

Many people here run the 5100s

Central Florida. There are 3 height settings for the front shocks(the rears are not adjustable in height): .85", 1.75" and 2.5". Setting it to 1.75" gets rid of the factory rake/sag in the front on stock springs. If you're using aftermarket lift springs, check on the lift they provide as your mileage will vary.

I'm waiting for my 6112 and 5160 setup to come in but I am excited about it. I had 5100s on my 3rd gen and absolutely love the ride. Good response on and off road and honestly the 3rd gen's ride is better comfort wise than the stock suspension on my 4th gen. This could be due to a frozen air suspension in the back and worn springs on the v8.

Only thing I'm dreading is the installation. It's winter here now so I'm going to have to do it in cold weather if I'm going to get new shoes on her for BF.

V6 or v8? What springs you end up going with?

You too, what’s your FULL set up lol?

With regard to the surface rust part of your question you can wipe them down good with a pre-paint solvent or whatever and spray a couple of clear coats on them before install, that slows it down some.

The ome shocks are better paired for those springs honestly.

Do you have a plate bumper up front?

I am currently running 5100s with OME 887 coils with a 150lbs plate bumper up front. I wish I went for the 888 coils.

The 886 coils gave my v8 WITH the steel bumper an additional 7 inches of lift on the passenger side and were binding the CVs. I do not recommend the 886 coils even though those are the drop down options for our rigs.
