Rooftop tent question

Can you put a rooftop tent on a 3/4 roof rack ? I tried to do some research but didn’t find anything. If so some pics would be nice . Thanks

you can even put one on the factory rack if you really wanted to

It would depend on the tent.

Some of the hardshell tents take nearly the length of the roof. Most soft tents fold out to the side and need a bit less than 3/4 of roof.

Id say yes for most soft tents.

My vote is yes! My Ayer Sky measures 42x48 in terms of the platform, and the rails are ~3ft apart (I think). Do it!

Finally bit the bullet and purchased the LFD 3/4 rack. Looking to see what others use for RTT as well.

CVT Mt. Rainier on a 3/4 Frontrunner. I had about 12” of front overhanging but worked fine for our family of 4. The only size I wouldn’t do would be a CVT Mt. Denali....anything 72” or less in width would work. If you do plan on Frontrunner I would highly recommend the quick release mounts...we’ll worth the cost IMO.

More pics in my thread linked in the signature including rack install, quick release mounts and other stuff.
