Pro rack or rails

So only had it a day and never liked the pro rack. Should I put on rails or keep the rack?

+1 on the pro rack.

Unless you're in the SE Texas area, cause then we can trade lol

IMO the rails give the vehicle a much cleaner appearence. I ended up powder coating my rails (black), which better matches the factory accents on the Pro. To each their own however, no right or wrong answer to this question.

I had the dealer remove the stock Pro Rack and install the oem side rails simply for clearance..as it would scrape at my work parkade and thats before bigger wheels and a possibly lift.
I got a good deal on silver side rails, so just wrapped them in black vinyl.

I also think it gives a cleaner look. Not worth having it on if it is just for show and your not using it.

That pro rack looks like such an afterthought. There is nothing in any part of a stock TRD chassis that even matches that aesthetic, it belongs on an FJ, it looks pretty ridiculous on a 4runner. But hey we all do ridiculous things to our stuff, so my opinion is only mine :)

As for advice, sell it, there are plenty of folks that love it ;): that’ll get you cash to make it more how you want it and not some poor marketing decision that says you should like it :D

Why ask? Do what you want and not what everyone else is doing or tells you to.

Are you planning on actually hauling anything on the rack?

If so, ditch the Pro rack and buy aftermarket.

The Pro rack is junk.

MilRunner 11-25-2019 05:40 PM

If you ditch it, let me know. I live within driving distance and wouldn't mind one.

Not sure if it effects resale. Most dealers prefer bone stock vehicles, just traded a 19 runner and they *****ed about my lift, asked for the old springs back so they could certify the thing

MilRunner 11-25-2019 11:57 PM

The dealer *****es about your lift and puts it back to stock, and the next person to buy your old 4Runner puts in another lift within a week of buying it. Oh well. Guess I’m glad I kept my original shocks.

I think the PRO racks look great, but I’m not going to use it for anything serious.

MGordo 11-26-2019 12:18 PM

I wouldnt worry about the dealer thing, as generally speaking with the Pros you have positive value at the end of your Lease. (If thats what you did)

So these showed up today and now im not sure what set I want up top:rockthrow:

It’s an easy install. Try them both out and see which one you like.
