Install Pioneer 8100NEX in 2006 Limited with JBL
Hey all,
I am late to the game in updating my Headunit but my friend is selling me his Pioneer 8100NEX. May I ask for some assistance? I did my fair share of searching through old threads and couldn't find answers some of the answers. I am replacing a factory Navigation with JBL system in a 2006 Limited with steering wheel controls. I would also like to have functionality of the factory rear camera and add in a front bumper camera as well. I am installing the 8100NEX for CarPlay (for Wife) and Android Auto. I am trying to source the parts I need and was wondering if you all could help? This is what I gathered so far:
Thank you all for any insight! Edit: Once I can gather all the info to get this done, I will make a tutorial for others. Edit2: With the help from gfxcruncher and JONBOY345 I have updated what I need. New Info:

Hey
@rooneyy
I'm sure other will chime in with less expensive options to source the parts... I installed a AVH-W4500NEX, I got everything from Crutchfield. When I punched in the vehicle info and the head unit, the install kit had all the harnesses and such. Looks like you only need a few things and could just get the harness from them? I'll hunt forever for some stuff, audio just isn't my game. idk about CarPlay in your particular unit, but I've found it to be the most used upgrade i've done, it's awesome (never had it before this) |
You should look into the iDatalink Maestro RR. Little more expensive, but easier to install.
I don't have personal experience with it, but it seems like a winner from what I've read from others experiences. iDatalink - Maestro - Maestro RR If you select your model, steering wheel info, and model of headunit on that webpage, it'll tell you everyhing you need, give you an installation guide, and tools/accessories. |

I was able to find it and it gave me all the information I needed. I've attached a screenshot showing this. |
+1 on the iDatalink Maestro, I did that too, nice to have vehicle info on the screen.
IRC, I had to spice the maestro harness to the supplied crutchfield harness (so I didn't have to hack up the vehicle harness) but you could probably splice the maestro harness directly to the vehicle... |

This is where I am running into an issue. I have all the connectors from the car's harness to the T01 harness accept for one connection. Any thoughts? Thank you!

It's been a while since I installed mine, but IIRC I had an extra connector (or two) floating around lol. I assumed it was a harness connector for steering wheel controls, the JBL sub or whatever (I have an SR5 without those options) |

I have double checked my crimping and connections to the T01 harness and everything is solid. I might also note that I bought this from a friend that had it in his 5th gen, is there some flashing I need to do to the Pioneer HU to accommodate it to my 4th gen? Thank you for your help! |
