2004 V6 sport 4wd differential questions. Which model Detroit truetrac to get?
Okay so I have a 2004 4wd v6 sport.
I've decided I want to put truetracs in the front and rear. But I'm having trouble narrowing down which model# is the correct fit for the front and rear? From what I've determined to far. The 2004 v6 has as 3.91 gear ratio in the front and rear. But I'm reading conflicting information on other things. Some sites say 7.5" and 27 spline for the front some says 8" 30 spline. For the rear some say it's 8.2" 30 spline a some say 8" 30 spline. ? |

I bought the 913A610 8" 4 pinion 30 spline for the rear. I have not installed it yet.
Can you use it in the front with an ADD differential? |

913A610 for front and rear. Some said 913A541 in the rear and 911A445 for the front. And now you're saying 913A619.. so I'm pretty lost. Was hoping someone on here had a definitive answer? I don't want to buy the wrong ones and find out half way into installing it. |
My apologies, I fat fungered it. it is the 610

Any here who can confirm the correct model or suggest a resource to figure it out? |
Talk with East Coast Gear Supply or Just Differentials. They can probably give you part #s and they can sell you the gears already setup to install in your truck.
Ask them if they recommend an automatic locker for the front. I bet not. |
If you search "truetrac" in this forum by title you'll find a few that have installed the 610 & you'll also find at least one that didn't like the truetrac in the front.

Decided to install mine this evening, got the third member on the table and found this
Dropbox - 20200123_172543 (2).jpg - Simplify your life This thing ran smooth as silk, no idea it was missing a tooth. Anyway, the 610 carrier is correct for my 2006 V8 Sport. I'm picking up another third member tomorrow and will install it in that one for an outing Saturday. |
I picked up another third member & the Truetrac is installed. The 913A610 is the correct one for our 4runners. I have not driven it yet because the 3rd member I picked up was from a 4wd & uses bolts on the pinion flange & mine was originally a 2wd & had studs. Guess who doesn't have the bolts?
I know I could swap the flange, but I decided not to jack with the pinion nut. The bolts will be here next week. |

I'm familiar with how it will operate off/on road I've driven different vehicles with similar setups. Quote:
Has anyone here installed a truetrac or LSD in the front on a 4th gen? |
