LED Headlight Upgrade. Worth it?

Overview
The 5th Gen 4runner is considered one of the best offroad vehicles in the world, known for its reliability and performance on and off the trail. That being said, it lacks majorly in technology and advancement of simple features other vehicles offer. One of the biggest issues to us is the HEADLIGHTS! Halogen bulbs in a vehicle is outdated, doesn't perform well, and doesn't offer look you would expect in a $40,000 SUV. We have tested many headlight bulbs on the market from the $15 autozone specials, to the $400 HIDs.

Is the juice worth the squeeze for the premium lights?
that's is a loaded question. For us, the autozone $15 lights might do the job for some but the quality control and longevity is worth more to us than that. Finding a solution that is in the middle is our goal and our winner is clear. Morimoto's 2 Stroke LED kits deliver on all areas we find important. Affordable. Bright. Easy to install. Reliable. The 6 Cree LEDs per bulb are grade A Philips Chips offering insane performance out of a small profile. The housing is made from machined aluminum offering a lightweight but durable solution. Cooling of LEDs is extremely important for headlights, so Morimoto uses copper boards to ensure the most efficient cooling in their headlight bulbs. Offering a optimal kelvin, these lights offer a 40% increase in brightness and are 100% plug & Play.

What else is needed?
Morimoto when designing these headlight bulbs, they wanted to create a low draw, high intensity bulb that worked in any reflector or projector without damaging or compromising the OEM part. These lights are 100% plug and play out of the box and the link below includes the anti flicker harness to prevent any flickering that may occur since the draw is significantly lower than the OEM light it is replacing. All orders ship 100% free and will include a full 3 year warranty as an authorized Morimoto Dealer.

I got mine for Christmas, and give them 2 thumbs up! One thing I especially appreciate is how well they illuminate traffic signs and LIGHT up cop cars reflective decals. I can spot police lurking behind something from quite the distance. Probably all leds do that but coming from halogen the visibility is night and day difference.

Cool story bros. Also cool, try comparing an LED flashlights against the stock oem halogen h11s and it will also be a lot better. That’s how bad stock lighting is.

Can you post install instructions. I’d like to see how this compares to doing a HID install.

Also what is the life space on these?

Endless threads on this forum alone.... beating a dead horse.

HID's for the low beams on the '14+ models with factory projectors, accept nothing less.

I used to like these, but my view has changed. I have had mine for around 9 months. They constantly have issues. The real problem with these is the fan, it isn't good quality. There is a constant hum but that isn't the deal-breaker. I have had so many issues with the fan struggling to spin, making a horrible whine. To fix it, I have to start the lights on and off multiple times. Once it dies, I doubt I will replace it, and have been contemplating HIDs instead.

My opinion: pass.

I may be the lone dissenter on this site but I think the stock headlights are not nearly as bad as they are made out to be. Not bad enough anyway to make it worthwhile to spend the money for an aftermarket light setup and deal with the issues many have.

That said, I'm glad there are options out there.
