Factory JBL sub enclosure help
So from the searching I’ve done the enclosure part number is 86150-35080. It’s $168 from Toyota but after going to the dealer to ask about availability and their price local, not online, they said that part number is for a 2017 or 2018 to 2020. I don’t remember what they said but they gave me a different part number for mine, which is a 2014 SR5. That part number is 86150-0W120. However, that’s listed at $440 online and $608 locally.
So my question is why such a huge difference? I wanted to go this route because it saves me a ton of cargo space and I thought it would be the simplest way to do it without paying someone to fab an enclosure. Plus I’ve seen people running JL and Kicker 8” subs with great results. Any help is appreciated or if someone knows if the cheaper box listed actually works in all years that would be awesome. That’s the video that started my research. However in the first 5 seconds he mentions its a 2018. Which is the cheaper part number I listed. I have a 2014 which has a different part number and is 2.5 times the price. I was hoping someone would know if the cheaper enclosure works. Or what exactly they changed after 2014 to make it so much cheaper Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah I’m wondering how much actually changed. Or if my year came with the sub and amp as well and that’s why it’s so much more. Just don’t want to take a $170 gamble and have it not work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Did a google thing. Looks like this guy used the $170 enclosure in his 14.
5th gen (14+) OEM JBL sub enclosure? BlackAck's 5th Gen 4Runner thread |
Your first link goes to the boards terms and conditions.
Second link doesn’t work at all. His is a 2017 which is the same part number as mine, the more expensive one, so I sent him a PM and I’m waiting to hear what he says. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ok a little update ......
Toyota said the 86150-0W120 was used from August 2009-April 2017. Then in May it switched to the 86150-35080 part number. Unfortunately it didn’t list the reason for the change or what actually changed on the enclosure itself. Could have been a change in manufacturer who knows Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I know this isn't a solid answer, but I highly doubt anything changed that matters to someone putting a aftermarket sub in. The mounts should all be the same.
Maybe the wire connection is different or a clip was added somewhere... nothing that would matter for an aftermarket install. |

86150-0W120 is the part number that was on the sticker on my enclosure. I have provided this part number to numerous people and they were able to contact their Toyota Parts department with this part number and they were able to order the enclosure without the speaker |
Ordering it is easy. There’s one somewhat local and can have it next day.
The issue is the model number that “fits” according to Toyota is $444 online and $608 and the dealer. The cheaper one that’s for a 2017-2020 is only $168. That’s a huge difference. I doubt anything changed either but I don’t want to waste $170 to figure it out or spend $444 on it either. By the time you add an 8w3 you might as well buy the stealth box from JL. I guess I will try a local yard to see if they have one or keep watching eBay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Maybe take out the rear quarter and see what your opening looks like. If the same your good to go |

If you want to save money the Dayton HO 8" is $120 and its extremely similar to the Jl 8" W3. I dont know if the Dayton will fit in the factory enclosure (mounting depth is .33" deeper). It also needs .5 cf vs .3 on the JL, I dont know how much space is in the factory enclosure. I have a Dayton 10" in a custom enclosure in the same area and it is very impressive. Just buy the 86150-0W120, we promise it will work :thumb3: |
Yeah the 0W120 will work for sure I just can’t find it for less than $438 from Toyota. That’s why the other Toyota part number I wanted to try at only $168.
I will try to see if a local yard has one or keep watching eBay. It’s just a lot to spend on an enclosure when after 2016 they switched part numbers and dramatically dropped the price Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
If one adds the factory sub, can the factory amp be installed also? Would it be worth it. Is the harness available for plug and play? I've been looking at the Alpine under seat amp/sub kit, or tocotunes set up.
