H&R Raising springs with Total Chaos UCA installed

Hello Folks,

New to this forum but have definitely used it as a resource since buying our 2018 SR5 4x2 base alittle over 1.5 years ago.

Up until a couple of days ago have been driving around with Bilstein 5100s front (+1 spring perch, lifted the front 1.25" on our 4x2) and Fox 2.0 shocks in the rear. After work on Monday installed H&R Raising (sorry, that's what they call them) springs and Total Chaos (the polyurethane pivot bushing version) upper control arms.

Install went great, without a hitch. The H&R Springs are supposed to raise the car 2" front / 1" rear. It is sitting very level at the moment. Although perhaps it'll settle after some more driving? Also have bigger 17x8 wheels and 285/70 tires en route soon so might be best to evaluate after.

As for actual ride height change - I measured ride height prior to doing the work so next time my wife parks on level ground I'll take the after measurements and report back.

Anyway, privilege to own one of these vehicles and glad to be part of this community.

Looks great. Can you measure the hub to fender on all corners. Also are you maxed out @ 2” for the front ?

These should be called adjustable springs :-)

Thanks Daytona Violet! Just a FYI, installed these at my place of work (BMW repair shop ;). Will try and take measurements when I get home tonight.

I'm not maxed out in the fronts as the perch is set to the +1 ride height setting. I think it could go up another 1.5 inches perhaps?

Regardless, i'll be back in touch soon with the measurements.

Thanks,

Ride Heights as follows from center of hub to fender edge:
Front = 23.25"
Rear = 23.375"

Bilstein 5100 in front set at the +1 ride height setting...so could definitely go higher (which we don't need, lol).

With the stock springs and the spring perches in the same position, it sat 3" lower in front and 1.375" lower in rear. Of course these are all rough measurements so take it for what it's worth..

Hope this helps,

-=terry

Good day . How do you like the ride in the car? hard? soft?

RooRunner 06-25-2020 04:59 PM

Hi There,

The ride felt a bit stiffer as the springs are no doubt designed for more weight. I have since removed the front and rear sway bars completely and i'm very happy with the ride quality. There is of course more body roll but is a very minor issue as we drive this vehicle very conservatively on the street...

I have asked H&R for the spring rates but have not heard back from them.

Last night I did install Volk TE37-XT wheels on the car though :)

I got the same wheels, what color you get? I got the bronze ones, just waiting on tires.

Awesome!! Love the bronze. Always have. We went with Blast Black though. My wife and I both liked BB whereas Ishe didn't like the bronze at all :( We chose the M-Spec variation.

We went with 17x8 et0 x 5, what about you?

Just installed 285/70R17 KO2s...the lower load rating one that weighs 51lbs. Minor trimming done. The 5th wheel fits in the stock spare location beautifully.

Nice! Where are the pics?!?

Are you planning on selling the stock wheels? I may be interested. :wink2:

Why remove sway bars?

I went with 17x8.5 -10.
I didn’t know they had that size.. did you get it through showstoppers off-road?

RooRunner 06-29-2020 05:17 PM

Sorry for delayed response. Been moving the past few days... so depressing, lol.

Would love to sell the old wheels. Just make me a fair offer. Im in OC :). They weren't stock on our SR-5. We upgraded to them from Toyota (TRD Gunmetal).

Pics coming up soon.

Blueberry. I bought them from EAS in Anaheim. I think you got the right size. Your probably looks more aggressive in terms of offset.

Back to moving.

Terry

That setup looks good

RooRunner 07-01-2020 06:56 PM

Thanks Royal Guard! Wish I got to see it more often. My wife drives it. I just work on it, lol.
