Best option for oak replacement carpet?
I found a couple of quick hits on eBay. They purport to be custom formed to fit the 3rd Gen but just need some trimming at the outer edges. Does anyone have a recommendation on a closest to OEM color/fit passenger carpet?

This is where I got my replacement carpet. It was well worth the cost and effort, but it is a tedious process.

Stock interiors is the way to go. Fit was good but yes you had to trim and cut holes. Was well worth it considering I already had the interior out for a full sound system install. Go for the mass backing, this carpet is nicer than stock and provides better sound deadening to reduce road noise. I’ll post pictures later. Here is what i ordered to match my oak interior/ dorado gold ‘01
ORDER DETAILS:
Item: 5250
Quantity: 1
Description: '96-'02 Toyota 4Runner Molded Carpet Passenger Area Only
Color: 8655-Sandstone Plush Cut Pile
Backing: MassBack - 54.00
5250 - 133.95
Price (each): 187.95
Item Total: 187.95

Agree 100% on the mass backing. Gives it a nice weight and definitely makes for a quieter ride.
Attached a few pics from when i did mine. Did it over two afternoons but definitely could have gotten it done in a day. make your cuts very conservatively/slowly to avoid taking more material than absolutely necessary.
edit: should have also mentioned - they will send you free color samples if you need to make sure you're getting an exact match. i have the moon mist interior on a 99 and i ordered color# 8019 and it was a perfect fit. shipping was $50 so it ended up being ~$225. absolutely worth it. interior looks amazing now.

Maybe my cuts were wrong, but when I tried to install it with mass backing, I found that some of the trim would not fall back into place, especially the trim at the bottom of the doors. I ended up scrapping it it bothered me so much, and just deep cleaning the stock one and throwing it back in.

It was a little stubborn but everything went back together great. Toughest panel to put back in was between the front and rear doors that covers the front seat belts.

Funny - that was the same panel that I had some difficulty with but I eventually - with some careful trimming - got everything back together and the trim is back exactly where it should be.
This is one of those jobs that takes a LONG time the first time you do but, but if you had to do it a second time, you could do it in 1/3 the time. Kind of like valve cover gaskets or a timing belt.

100% agree. My carpet looked worse than yours at 256k miles. Wife had multiple coffee spills in and around the front console.

Check pricing at RockAuto. They sell ACC brand and you can request color samples directly from accmats.com.

RockAuto pricing for the ACC carpet with the mass backing is $171. pretty close to the cost from stock interiors. not sure about shipping costs from rockauto.

How about vinyl
A little off topic, but any experience with the vinyl flooring offered by ACC? Priced the same as carpet on their website, but about $199 delivered via ebay.

Found information on BirdusZippidus? It's just that I'm also interested in this, I will be glad if you share information. Something I remembered the story of a friend. He spilled something in his 2013 Toyota Highlander. He tried to clean it all up but to no avail. Everything was in the mud, both the seat and the carpet. In a word, quiet horror, I would share a photo, but I won't find it right now. But that was not all, he stained his carpet at home with the same liquid. It was clearly not his day, but he managed to restore the carpet, he called the guys who are engaged in carpet restoration. What about the interior of the car, I had to do a complete dry cleaning and then there were some traces left.

I too have Toyta 2013, but your story made me sad.
