Found...what is it and from where/what?

Running some wire yesterday and found this wedged between the frame and heat shield above the muffler. Looks like a bump stop but pretty small for that. Was it a lucky catch from one bouncing down the road? Little big for the top of a shock, but would make sense if the last owner lost it. Anyone?

It looks like the top bushing on a front strut or rear shock. Photos shows it fully compressed, while yours is unloaded.

Does look a lot like that last pic. Odd place to find it, but I guess when you lose parts they always find themselves in places that you’ll never think to look.

Thanks for posting that.

No offense but that’s not at all what those look like taken apart. The pictures OP posted are 100% not the upper strut mount bushings.

Looks like one to me. Not off of OP's ride, obviously.

I think you just caught something tbh.

Toyota is pretty decent at putting part numbers on everything and that’s not a Toyota part #. I trying doing a google but nothing came up.

My strut bushings looked nothing like that thing off the truck. Maybe they where different for some years or models?

Probably not off of this vehicle, of course. There'd certainly be other symptoms if the OP's parts were missing.

Or it could be the foot off of a refrigerator. Or the cap from a bottle of blinker fluid. Or a bobber that doesn't float.

If it is an upper shock bushing, it is definitely not mine. It is a pretty thick rubber bushing for that as well plus the rubber isn't loose on the metal. I too think it was a good catch (or bad). LOL. Just an odd place to find it.

I too tried to search for the numbers on the rubber and could find nothing.

That's a thingamabob bushing, lower I'd say...

It's definitely an upper shock bushing with the washer that caps it. Here's a picture of new ones you can buy. Yes it says FJ Cruiser but these are what popped up with 4Runner search on that website.
