Make driver seat even lower?
 

I've got the 2020 with power driver seat, and I don't hit the roof but sit a bit higher up than I'd like. The power adjustment is all the way down, but I'm wondering if there's a way the seat could actually be made lower? I.e. give up height but range includes lower position. Not sure what's actually under the seat/what the platform is like but obviously the seat isn't resting on the floor...

I'm 6'2" and have a couple inches of room above my head. I do have a sunroof, though, so that may be why. How tall are you?

I have the sunroof and I DON'T hit the ceiling, but I find that my head is higher up than I'd like.

I'm 6'4, no sunroof, I have tons of room above head. Maybe the sunroof takes a lot of room?

Sunroof DOES take up a chunk of headroom, about 2". I'm 6'4" with a tall sitting height and unless I recline a good bit my head hits a sunroof...so none for me!

Kaitlyn try reclining the seat a notch or two and see if that changes things enough. Don't know if the seat can be lowered, might have to go custom and replace the stock seat which is pretty spendy. What gehicle are you coming from? Might just take some getting used to...

This is kinda funny as there is a thread about someone who's 5'11" saying he installed a kit to raise the seat because of lack of leg room. I'm 6'2" and have no problem with leg room or head room. I do not have a sun roof though.
I don't know if there is any way to lower the stock seat though.

This topic has been discussed before. There really isn’t a mod or a quick solution without reframing the seat and doing some serious fab work for merely an inch or at best 2” lowering gain. I’m 6’4” and have the sunroof. My head bumps the headliner so I’d love if there was a quick mod solution but oh well.

Did you end up finding a solution on lowering the front seats? im having a similar dilemma with my head just touching the liner. (2021 orp with moon roof).

I'm 6'5" and have plenty of head room compared to my 4th gen where I slammed the brakes and hit my head on the roof liner. I have the power seat and have my seat all the way down and reclined back a bit and I have no head room issues at all

I'm 6'4" and have no problem either.

Actually, I have the opposite problem in that when I am off roading, it is hard to see over the hood for obstacles (big rocks or holes) directly in front. Also, when coming over the crest of a hill, I can't see where the road goes -- left, right, or straight. In some ways, I would like to sit higher.

Do you have the moon roof?

I'm 6'3" and in our 2013 SR5 with the sunroof we never use, I have to tilt the seat back some to keep my head from hitting the roof.

At 6/3 and 250 and 65yoa, my 3rd gen with moonroof/sunroof has plenty of headroom to make travel comfortable, but understand opinions may differ gen to gen. So, pull the seat, pull the carpet, draw straight lines to set up a square defined by the bolt holes, draw a second square fore-and-aft on left and right and left-to-right on front and rear, one-half to one inch beyond the edges of the seat frame's maximum travel (or be prepared to accept limits on the travel). Check clearances underneath, pull out the trusty plasma cutter with asbestos shield and remove the floor along the outside lines laid out. weld the bottom of a one to two inch spacer around the lip of the rim of the cut out floor section, then weld top of spacer back to floor, creating a cup for the seat frame to sit in, bolt the seat back in and see what you have wrought, lol. Measure twice and cut once. It would seem to be easier done when a lift is in place. Please understand, this is an off-the-top-of-my-head intellectual exercise to generate a discussion and development of options, the clearances underneath will dictate the drop allowed, each gen and model will be different. Not sure its possible or plausible, but regardless would be a whole lot of work for an inch or so. And may seriously weaken crash worthiness, so do at your own risk.

Fwiw, the back half of the seat in my 2020 (power) has at least 3-4 more inches it could come down. My seat is all the way down but I was able to fit my Ham radio base unit under the seat. The front of the seat is closer to the raised part of the seat pan but the rear has space. Your rear passengers will lose their foot space though.
