Transmission cooler guidance

2012 Ltd. I need to add a transmission cooler and will probably put in a Derale w/o a fan and add one later if needed. I plan to add it in series.

I see a red and blue dot on my stock lines. Does it matter which side I add the series cooler?

Series. It may not matter if I’m in series, just curious what might yield the best results.

I just got one added in series as well. I put it inline such that it goes into the supplemental cooler first, then the pre-cooled fluid goes into the “hot” Side of the oem cooler. My theory on this is that since the stock transmission cooler and radiator are all one piece, the temps effect each other. When I am towing, trans temps are abnormally hot, therefore pre-cooling keeps overall temps in check

On the flip side to that, in the colder winter months, the supplemental cooler might cool too much, and going back into oem can warm it back up some to operating temps.
