First lift done. Bump stops?
 

Just finished my first lift. Went with OME 883 3" springs for the front rated for extra weight that i plan on adding later. And OME 890x springs for the rear rated for 3" lift without extra weight. Also went with bilstein 5100 all around

After installing i noticed the back is noticeably higher than the front. Did i install it wrong? If anything i thought the front would be slighlty taller than the rear without the added weight. I measured from the center of the wheel to the fender front and back, front measured 22" and the back measured 25"

Also I have heard of people getting extended bump stops to prevent over compression of the shocks. Is this something I need? Would i need front plus rear extensions?

Consider getting it done. About a month ago, I deal with a ripped frame/upper shock mount plate for not having properly set bump stops.

Which rear springs did you use (there are 4 choices, and what you listed in your first post isn't one of them)?

You have 5" of lift in the rear - you put 3" springs on there - but they are 3" *with* weight, and you have none back there right now.

Based on the 2" front lift you got, you probably don't have 3" front springs, and you really don't want that anyway... unless you have longer travel in the front (which you won't with 4Runner Blisteins on there). 3" lift puts you pretty close to the top of your suspension travel... If you need more lift in the front when you add weight, you can always just put the 5100's up a notch.

The 881/883 seem to give more around 2" maybe 2.5" at the end of the day, without adjusting what notch on the 5100s. If the 890s are new, they will settle a bit over time. I run 881/890 currently and this is my stance with 100-150lbs of gear in my rear storage. OME shocks and 265s.

I have not needed to adjust my bump stops at all and have done quite a bit of technical wheeling with this setup. I do have a pair of LC coils I plan to toss in with a longer shock here soon and from my research, bumps tops / extensions are typically needed with that setup. You can always cycle your suspension to really nail down where you want your bumps.

Thank you for replies. I have since done more research and looking under the truck again found out that the previous owner put a 2" spacer lift for the rear coils, so me being a newb not knowing it was a spacer put it back in giving me 5" lift in the rear. It went pretty smooth and quick the other night getting them out and now the rear is 3". In the front it is not 3" lift but more so 2.5" with the 883s. From what I'm hearing I should be good without extensions? I will be offroad

What you're referring to is rake. Nothing installed wrong just the nature of suspension. It will slightly decrease with time as the springs settle. When I first did my TRD/Dobinsons lift, I had maybe 2-2.5" of rake, but now it's been a few months and I probably have around 1.5" now. At first I [[U[hated[/U] it, but now I absolutely love how it looks now that it's a little less - adds a very aggressive look. If I'm not mistaken, these cars had 0.5" of (positive) rake from the factory
He said OME 890x. If you or anybody is curious what the X designation means, I asked them a while ago and they told me that any X coils are new production and use a different+stronger steel than before. I suspect it's to help address pre-maturely sagging like they've had in recent years.
I would ask Sonoran Steel. Chances are they've been asked your exact question 100 times before, and they'll order daystar's that are built to your shock's specifications. Plus once you get Daystars, the cones can come out which should give you another -0.5" lower. Also super easy to install
