I have a 2007 2WD with 20” 5th gen limited wheels and a leveling kit. (Pic should be attached). I needed tires for it and wanted to get some aggressive A/T tires honestly 99% for the looks alone. I drive it daily on pavement to and from work and rarely take it anywhere off road. It will be my son’s vehicle when he starts driving in a about a year at which point I will be getting a newer 4Runner. My question is, was it dumb/irresponsible to order A/Ttires when as I said I am almost exclusively driving on the road? I don’t care if they are a little noisier or don’t ride as smooth as the Goodyear Wrangler SA’s I have now. Will they still perform well on road? Thanks.

It’s a great tire! I’m on my third set on two different vehicles. All worn out due to mileage. They do get a little noisy when the get miles on them. Last set lasted about 60k on my 4runner, which was about 1.5 year.

I think they are trash in the rain. My underpowered truck loses traction quite a bit when wet. I also have E rated and that might be the issue.

Dumb/irresponsible is subjective.

The key takeaway is that you admittedly said its 99% for looks alone so with that, I think you'll be happy. As far as performance goes, I don't think you'll be racing around on these so perhaps narrowing down which aspect of performance you're concerned with might help (i.e. wet weather conditions).

At the end of the day, they're street legal and street rated.

BTW, I've got KO2's Load C on my daily driver (pre-Covid).

I have KO2 on my LC...Load Range D. Love them. No issue in bad weather. Quiet too. I have about 21k miles on them so far.

ko's

I just installed new 285/70r17 bfg ko-2's on my 2020 sr5 premium. I had a 3/2 lift installed first of course. I opted for the E--10 ply and love them. Rides better and handles fantastic

i've run AT/KO on my '95 pickup since 2005, and recently the KO-2. my chief complaints about them are 1) they kinda wander on pavement, especially when new; and 2) they are not an effective snow tire despite their rating. their performance on snow and ice may or may not matter to you, but i'm throwing in my $0.02. i love them on dry and rocky trails, which i consider their most compelling use case. i have duratracs on my 4R and am expecting to switch to these for the pickup when its KO-2 set needs to be replaced, because the duratrac has far better road manners for me, and does better on snow and ice. i agree that the KO series is a great-looking tire, which was one reason i was attracted to them. KO-2 reliably transport people to (and back from) a lot of remote and challenging trails. they've served me well for several sets, but i am more satisfied with the duratracs day in and day out.
