Opinion please: Color match rear bumper or black?
Hi All,
I have a 2010 silver metallic TE, and it has the black fender flares. I recently was rear ended, so I purchased a Victory dual swing out with the proceeds. I generally like the look of the color matched bumper, and in silver I think it could look pretty good. Most people stick with with black PC so I wanted to try something different. I haven't seen a 4runner that way after scouring hundreds of pics, but I've seen an LC200 with a silver ARB bumper and it looked kinda cool. So the question is, will the TE look weird with a color-matched bumper AND having the black fender flare stop 1/2 way down the backside of the rear wheel arch where it meets the new silver bumper? Thanks for your thoughts! |
Black
Imo better black ,plus won't freak so bad when you start dinging it up !:vader:

Too much money for paint match. Wont touch up as easily.
Subjectively I don't think it looks that good in most cases. |
I vote for black, too. It will hide the imperfections better.

Powder coated black :-)

Black, save the money for something functional or fun.

With black fender I'd go with a black bumper. Would look very odd on the rear end to have it color matched and the black fender stop halfway.

Black definitely, color matched looks like a mall crawler/show rig.
More importantly much easier to touch up |
I personally don't like the look of black F+R bumpers on 5th gens. From the side, it looks like a woman, holding up her dress because she saw a mouse. But that's me.
I would color match, and then plasti-dip the part to make the flares all black. But yes, black PC is more practical. |
textured black

+1 for Black texture....

Check Lifestyle Overland channel on youtube, their 4runner has color matched bumpers.
Personally I'm on the fence, the black bumper work with some colors but not with others ie: cement, quicksand, army green, lunar rock. Maintenance will be easier in black. |
I've seen lots of silver bumpers in Oz when I lived there a while back and they all looked like ass, especially once the outback sand and rocks had their way with them.

Color match can look good, but the rear end gets pretty beat up if you're out there using the truck. I'd go with black PC if you actually want to make use of it.
