3rd gen Push Switch

1 Attachment(s)
I have been searching the forums and internet for a push switch to go into the factory slots on left of the steering wheel. The limited has two seat warmer switches leaving the 3 below. I tried a switch that is too big and concerned about cutting the hole largee as I plan to expand a rear pod and compressor switch. Attachment 374270

The best option is to buy rocker or push/detent switches that fit as opposed[FIXED FOR BLAIRRACD] to hacking ones in that don't fit, you will notice the other switches are imbedded or counter sunk into the slot, nice and clean fit, some switches have a lip/trim that cover the hack job so it doesn't look terrible though, ideally you want the switch to fit the oe option and save yourself some work, should be a pretty common size for Toyota and most Japan vehicles. Not a big fan of all the trucker push switches that stick out past the mounting location that are available, they just look outta place sticking out like that. Looking again at it even if you did hack it out the hole will end up to large or the locking tabs on your switch won't engage to the modified counter sunk slot. I use to work in a heavy equipment shop that does dump box, crane and highway plow and tow plow installs and we use those type of "push" raised rocker switches because they where cheaper for custom dash and console control work and the industry standard for truckers, most are cheaply made and problematic, we did about 300 truck per year and had issues with low quality switches, mind you there where about 20 added to some installs, under bad conditions and heavy use.

Post up some pics once you install them please. It doesn't say that they work with our 4Runners but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't

I think they do

They are labelled "Toyota" and seem to be only 3 amps. I searched for higher amperages, which they have but, some may not be exact fits.

Best of luck!

I'm sorry....but do you really not know the word ''opposed"?

Geez my apologies, in my haste I didn't proof read it for spelling errors while typing on my phone. I'll be sure to proof read my, and everyone's posts and point out any mistakes and PM you so you can correct everyone publicly. I'll be sure to correct that, thanks for your concern about me. I'd hate for anyone to be confused about what I was saying, I shouldn't post suggestions or offer help here anyways.

Perhaps the reason for low amperage switches only is your not supposed to put high amperage across switch contacts. As it can have the switch melt down and fail prematurely. Circuits are supposed to use relay to power the high amperage circuits. Just my opinion though what do I know it's not like I went to college for electric engineering or anything. Come on people lighten up its Christmas for goodness sake...:]

Well at least I was able to help blairracd out by letting him know the D558 taco 5100's he is using are not 4R 5100's, I'll include some more info for him since he wants to add a steel bumper to his Taco shocks, hopefully nobody made any spelling errors..

Not enough lift from Eibachs. Spacer or higher clip for 5100s?

Read before buying Bilsteins!

lol, electrical engineer here as well. yep, planning on relays for all my switches, I don't really want to route 12ga wires into the cab for the larger items like lights, etc. Relays are your friends.

I hacked mine up for some nice OTR switches. OEM switches look dainty to me anyway :lookout:
