Diff Drop Needed after 2" Front Lift?

So I have a little grease flinging out where the inboard CV boots meet the axle shafts after installing Bilstein 5100s set to the third notch. This setting was supposed to only provide 1.75 in of lift but actually provided 2" of lift after a couple of days of settling.

I noticed there was dirty grease buildup around the boot where it is supposed to seal around the CV shaft when I did the job. I wiped it clean when I did the lift. So I don't know if removing that buildup caused the grease to start to fling out or doing the lift potentially did because I was moving the CV shaft and boots in and out when I was doing the job.

The clamp is not tight as I can move the boots on the shafts by hand.

I'm considering the McMaster-style hose clamps to fix the leak. But my question is do I really need to do a diff drop could that be part of the reason the grease is leaking?

I have no ribs of the CV boots touching each other and it looks like if I did a dip drop it would actually increase the angle because the diff is actually slightly lower than the hubs on the wheels. There is actually a slight bit of negative angle of the CV shafts going to the wheels.

Diff drop should not be needed. You most likely just need to replace the inner CV boots.

My T4r has 36,000 mi on it and the boots are soft and supple with no cracks or tears. I see no reason to replace them at this time.

I thought when you lift you are supposed to get a downward angle from the shaft going from the diff to the hub?

Then you probably just need to replace the outter clamps, especially if the boot it sliding around.

Downward CV angle all depends on how much lift you do. If you gained lift and they are still relatively flat, I wouldn't worry about it as long as everything else seems in good shape.

If its not torn put the McMaster worm gear style clamp and forget it. No issues since I've gone that route.

Ok perfect I ordered the clamps. Thanks!

Could you throw those part numbers from McMaster on here? That would help a ton - thanks ahead of time!

I actually ordered the small kit from Amazon from Patriot Parts I think his name is. I paid around $14 to get Prime shipping but if you look on Ebay it is the same seller for a few dollars cheaper but it will take around a week to get the package.

Just search "lift cv boot clamp 4runner" on either Amazon or Ebay and you will see the listings. If you want to buy enough to do all the fittings on both CV shafts the price goes to around $20. I only needed 2 of the small clamps for the inboard boots so I ordered the small kit.
