Hi guys

Looking for an OEM skid plate , just for cleaner look, has anyone recently added Toyota PT212-35040 Skid Plate from a Tacoma? I found some older posts that they maybe compatible but no real follow up.

I looked into this years ago but never pulled the trigger as the Budbuilt stuff was looking pretty good. From what I understand that will work for the non fat lip 4R with the Tacoma mounting brackets as it wasn't an option for a early 3rd gen, the 99-02 fat lip will need to use the 02 sport edition version pz327-35010 and mount brackets.

Thanks for the info. I've got this new to me '96 and seems various other things I've been researching to do have details that switch with years '98/'99 etc.

Really interested as my front end is open since I purchased. All have to do is find one in Canada now.

Being in Canada aswell I wish you good luck, not much to choose from up here. Best bet is eBay, and the dealer might have it still but they jumped from $120 in 2006 to $400+ in 2008, personally I like the factory steel skid, still want the budbuilt skids though badly. I think Hilux Surf had this as an option for 96-97 but now your shipping from a different continent. I'm pretty sure this aluminum peice adds onto the factory steel skid plate, the steel skid is 2 parts and covers quite well for a factory skid plate.

ok thanks, don't have any skids left on mine and might not be able to mount this if I find one!

Of course creativity is the foundation many great mods.

As long as you realize it doesn't do any actual skid protection... It does look good though (I had one on my '99 for a while for the looks - I wouldn't have it on there if I was going to 'used' it off road).
