Course Motorsports phone mount
Hey all!
It has been a minute since my last post about installing a transmission. This time I picked up something for the interior that is a nice quality of life upgrade. I've finally gotten around to getting phone mount for my truck. It's something I've wanted for a long time, just had never gotten around to actually getting. It has a nice magnetic mount and a swivel that allows you to move your phone around. Here are a few pictures of it. https://i.imgur.com/NOjFDwLm.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4lWZKXOm.gif https://i.imgur.com/MLBJjzA.jpg https://i.imgur.com/banpn5p.jpg I've never installed a phone mount so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was pretty straight forward. I popped the cup holder lose just to give me some more room to work. https://i.imgur.com/oR9GaRm.jpg I then moved my shift boot so that I could pop lose the entertainment console. https://i.imgur.com/VAiRanh.jpg From there you just pop your console out. I just gently "pop" the bottom first and work my way up to the top. https://i.imgur.com/JJJVxBP.jpg The phone mount fits perfectly between two of the tabs. https://i.imgur.com/0MN4A6M.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Xwgeazq.jpg Just pop everything back together and you are good to go. |
Good work looks great.

That looks awesome. Way simpler than the modified panavise + ram mount I use but very similar idea and placement. Very clean design. Thanks for sharing!

Liking the way the phone sits. Does the phone stick on to the mount via magnet?
Thanks for posting this. |

Yes, the square plate and the circular plate are magnetic and can stick to your phone case or phone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I have one of these too that I just installed last weekend. It really works great and is very easy to install. I'll get some pics of mine and post them up in here.

Direct Fit Magnetic Phone Mount - Toyota 4Runner (1996-2002) — CourseMS
For anyone who has this, how close is the ball size to a ram mount? I think for most uses, I'd stick with this phone mount, as-is, but for any weekend adventures in the mountains, might be nice to have the ability to switch over to RAM stuff. edit: Looks like the CourseMS ball size is 17mm, which isn't a match for any RAM ball sizes. Not really understanding how it installs, would it be possible to install this on the drivers side as well? Thinking I might give this an order. |
Went ahead and ordered this, looks nice. I emailed them to ask what the thread pitch was as I imagine I can just mount a ram ball onto their thread. They responded in just a couple of minutes and said they wouldn't share what the thread pitch was.
Thanks, so helpful, even for someone who already placed an order... |
This looks like a great option for phone mount.
Made in US, easy to install/no drilling holes, simple & well thought out design. |
Oh I like this. Might need for wife to have a place for her phone.

It's an M5-.80. I see two options to convert, somehow pull the existing thread out and swap it or just fill the ram mount female threads with some sort of epoxy and push it over the M5 threads. For now, will just use the mount as it's supposed to and work on the rest later, lol. I did buy the ram mount though. |
