noob oil change question when brand new

I picked up a 2021 venture and just to hear some opinion

when i get my first oil change i read on here i should do it at 5K Miles ( im in canada so then I should do it at 8000km ?

and after that do it every 16,000 km's ? (aka 10K miles) ???

as for as oil goes since this woulld be my first oil change
id wanna use best quality

would you guys suggest Mobil 1 0-20 or somethin else

5K miles is fine. Any off the shelf oil of the correct viscosity will work fine. Mobil One is good.

With full synthetic you can go 10k . Do a Blackstone lab analysis to be sure.

I've used Mobil 1 synthetic in all 3 of my 4Runners and it works great

Not sure if there are Costco's near you, but can't beat their full synthetic offering of 10qt for $30. I believe it's made by the same company that makes Amazon's full synthetic, which tested as good as Mobile 1 and even better in some tests. (Mobile 1 at Costco on sale is nearly the same price, but for only 6qt so you'd have to initially buy two boxes since 4R requires 7qt per change).

I change my three vehicles' oil every 10K with full synthetic (all take 7qt each change). If you don't redline your engine frequently, 10K is still probably a very safe interval. I drive my 08 F150 with 250K mi very hard and it's done great at 10K intervals. (Most of the time I also replace one quart with Lucas Oil engine stabilizer*)

I usually go about 7k miles on every oil change with both my 4Runner and my wife's RAV4. Anywhere from 5-10k is safe if using full synthetic (which you always should). I'm dumb though and pay for expensive oil (Liqui-Moly)

I often wonder what it is about automotive lubricants that seems to bring out the latent OCD in so many people. Except among the truly afflicted, you never see these sorts of discussions about which toothpaste or insecticide or cooking oil to use -- only motor oil (and, among T4R enthusiasts, transfer case and diff oil).

The correct answer, of course, is that IT DOESN'T MATTER.

Number of incidences of catastrophic engine wear or failure specifically attributable to using one brand of oil over another: zero.

Number of such failures avoided by changing oil more often than the factory-recommended interval: zero.

I do oil and filter every 10K, Mobil 1, and a filter only every 5k, topping off the filter housing of course.

The Costco tip is mentioned in the main thread. Really though you should do some research since all this stuff is out there.

The owner's manual is your friend. Good place to start.

Generally 5 miles over the posted limit.

You're under toyota care right? I'm willing to bet that they will accept it for service and not change the oil at 5k but lead you to believe that they did. That is my experience
