No New 2022 4Runner

So Toyota announced a new model for 2022 in the current 4R lineup, the TRD Sport, so I guess this means no change until 2023.

so, it's a limited with a hoodscoop and a lower grade interior...

Toyota just knocking out of the park again.

Actually, I think it's an SR-5 with the TRD-OR 4WD stick instead of a knob, with a limited suspension and wheels, and a hood scoop.

I just tried to search but couldnt find. Does it have a 3rd row option? Cause It would be great to have a 3rd row and an elocker.

Looks like it has a knob based on these pics..so its a SR5 and a Limited combo?

They must want to use up all the SR5 & Limited stuff like X-REAS before they switch over to Toyota's tnga-f truck platform for 2023?

Oh, yep. I mis-read that, it add's a fancy TRD Shift Knob instead. Definitely worth it now.

The 4Runner is made for the American market. For at least the next three years, the American economy will have flat incomes and accelerating rates of inflation. A new model for 2022 would cost 55K and up, and wouldn't sell.

I agree with the American market part, especially when the badges and markups happen after they leave the plant.

The income bracket has shifted up a little as I see more people snatching up Offroads and Pros than ever before.

If anything, a 2wd SR-5 should no longer compete or handle well against the next generation of unibody chassis SUV’s for on-road grocery getters. Better to dress them up for the “me also” crowd before they realize it.

The current model seems to be selling well.

Used 4Runners are going for big bucks.

If it works, don't fix it ?

Super boring. I probably need to get another SUV soon. Hopefully, I can hold out till 2023 and see what all come to the market. The 4R is definitely not in the running in its current state.

SUVs and trucks are selling so well right now...too well. The dealer called me last week and said they would pay 4K more than I paid, for the truck that I bought 4 months ago.

So that makes it 12 model years without a redesign. That has to be one of, if not the longest of any vehicle currently in production?

It's a shame that right now you have to choose either build quality/reliability or modern technology/features. Factor in off road capability and nothing really provides all of that in the current market.

One could argue that it goes back to 2003. 4th gen and 5th gen really aren't fundamentally different. Technically though, the Tundra has gone longer since the 2nd gen came out in 2007.
