Anybody running these yet? They look like STT Pro’s little brother or cousin, maybe.

I’ve got 55k on my Wildpeaks and am looking to replace them in the next few weeks. While looking at options, I saw these were released recently. Not many reviews out there, but the ones I found are positive. They seem to have some good features; an aggressive AT (16/32 tread depth) with good road manners and plenty of siping for wet traction. They have a 60k warranty, but no 3PMS rating though. Most people are reporting that they are quiet, but I know that can be subjective. The XL load rated weigh a pound or two less than the Falken SL load. I was considering another set of the Falkens or the General ATX, but now I’m wondering about these.

Interesting tire but at 45lbs they’re actually heavier than the Wildpeak in SL(which I’ve measured at 44.5lbs on a scale) and they’re still much heavier than the grabber ATX (listed at just under 41lbs).

I have an almost new set of Wildpeaks in 265 SL and absolutely love everything about them (quiet, excellent wet traction etc.) except that I feel the added weight.

I just got a set of 4 put on my 14 trail a few 100 miles ago. I came from a 4th gen and was running nitto ridge grapplers on it. The rugged treks are just as quiet if not more quiet than the rg’s. Honestly I can barely hear the rugged treks going down the highway at 65 with my windows down. They did well in some heavy rain we had the other day but as far as any other road or off road conditions I can’t say. Haven’t had them long enough. They are pretty aggressive so off road they should do great with their big channels in between lugs but even with that they handle quite well I’ve not noticed any folding of the lugs during heavy braking. So far I’m pretty happy with them. Mine are the passenger version but they are xl load rated. Hope this helps! One more thing the tires on my rig were cooper st maxx and the rugged treks are 10 times more quiet!

That’s good info and about what I’ve been seeing elsewhere. Keep us updated as you get more miles on them. I’m curious to know if there’s a hit on MPGs. Just about any good AT will handle my needs, but availability, cost, and efficiency will all come into play.




Surprised to read that about the Falken’s weight. They are listed at 46.5 on Falken’s site and 47 everywhere else. The weight is the one downside I can find in the Wildpeaks, but I did not notice any hit to MPGs. I’m averaging 18.7 and can get 21-22 on highway trips if I keep my speed around 70.

I had the XL load in stock size for a few hundred miles on my 21 ORP, and have since switched to KO2’s. They are a bit louder than KO2’s but they did ride well, aside from the dreaded steering wheel shimmy I’ve had since I bought the truck.

I made the switch to KO2’s in a desperate attempt to get rid of it after several balances of the Rugged Trek’s didn’t help - well, neither did switching to the KO2’s, so I don’t believe it was related to the Rugged Trek’s.

I will say the Discount Tire I had them balanced at made sure to tell me how aggressive they looked, and wasn’t sure how well they’d balance. They were thinking it was a heavy mud terrain despite my efforts to tell them otherwise.

Ok will do! As far as mpg’s go the cooper st maxx’ I had were 285 the rugged treks are 265 so my mpg’s have went up a little. But my rig is also lifted quite a bit with heavy rock sliders so my mpg’s aren’t going to be very good either way.

Cooper is offering a $100 rebate on the Rugged Treks so I had my local shop order a set in the stock size (XL load). They installed them on Friday and it looks like it took a good bit of weight to balance them.

My initial impression is that these are a straight up mud terrain and not some sort of a hybrid. The online pictures and descriptions are a little deceiving in my opinion. They have big deep tread blocks and big voids. I expect they will do great off road. On road manners seem to be good for the dry weather we are having. They are louder than my Falkens were but not terrible. With my normal radio volume, I don’t hear them. A co-worker has Duratracs and these are definitely not as loud as the Goodyears. I can hear his tires roaring from half a mile away.

It will take me a few days to get the air pressure dialed in. I have them set at 36 psi now, which is what the one load table I found recommends. I think that’s going to be a little high for the unloaded weight of the 4runner.

The reason I went with these over another set of Falkens is the 60 mph steering wheel shake I had. Unfortunately, it’s still there.

Doesn’t look like I’m going to take a hit on mpg, but I have not put many miles on them. I’ll update the thread when I get a few tanks of gas on them.

I picked up a set a few weeks ago replacing the ST Maxx. After about 500 miles of driving on them they do ride smooth and a lot quieter than the Maxx. There’s some road noise but nothing intense. I haven’t had them in the rain/snow yet but they handle great on pavement.

New here and to the 4Runner world btw and from what I’ve read so far, is the 60 mph shimmy a common issue?

Has anyone else tried these new tires? Any pictures with the Rugged Treks on a 4Runner?

Yes and yes!!! These things are awesome, and road force balanced first try. I have zero steering wheel vibration, and wet performance has been excellent. The few trails I have driven, the Rugged Treks have been great. The only downside if that’s a negative is that they are not snow rated.

These are not an MT..they are absolutely a hybrid AT tire. I was having vibe issues from day one with my Falken Wildpeaks, and zero with the Rugged Treks and almost minimal road noise. My tire pressure is set to 40 psi and I’m still dialing that in.

Im researching tires now myself. nothing specific to add on these tires but i was told yesterday that all toyota dealerships are doing a buy 3 get one free tire sale starting october 1st.

285/70/17 on Konig Counteer steer X, 2” lift on Billstein 5100.

Can you elaborate on the issues you had with the Wildpeaks?
