Post your wheel offset and help me understand
Post up your pics of your wheel offset and help me understand what I need to do to get a wider stance. I am interested in wheel offset for a 2021 4Runner TRD PRO. I am not sure how much offset is on the stock wheel, but I want to replace those wheels with a wheel that allows me to get the tire in-line or just a touch outside the fender. I really like the wider stance, but I do not know what I would need to purchase to get there. Please note that I do not want to use wheel spacers. And I do really like the rims on the PRO, but this time around I really want the offset. I would also likely put a 285/70/17 or a 295/70/17 tire on the wheels. That would also change if I went to an 18 inch wheel or down to a 16 inch wheel. So, if you haven’t guessed, I need a lot of help with this to understand what it takes to widen that stance!
EDIT: For clarification, I am willing to mod, just wanted to try and avoid the BMC. But, I have had some great advice here and it does not look possible unless I go all the way on the mods. Thanks for the help everyone! |
I’ve got OEM wheels and can’t really help you with the offset questions. What I can tell you is that 16” wheels won’t fit on your 4Runner as they don’t clear the brakes.

Good call! Thank you for the information.

Are you willing to do UCA, bumper trimming and possible BMC?
My general observation is that anything 8.5 and -10 offset a la SCS or your popular Japanese makes (Volk, Enkei, Works etc) is going to be pretty flush on 33’s. Moving up to 9 inch wide and -38 with SCS or -24 with Summit off roads, you’ll have that poke but will definitely need the modding. Just for comparison, your stock wheel is at 7 inch with a single digit offset. Any of the above will be a noticeably wider stance. |

Use a wheel offset calculator website like https://www.willtheyfit.com/ and it'll tell you how much further your wheel/tire combo will "stick out".

if you want a wide stance, you want the SCS-38 wheels with a BMC, or other wheels with spacers and a BMC. I spent months looking through instagram and every single wide stance 4runner either had spacers or the -38 offset wheels. that's all there is to it. you have to run 17" or larger diameter wheels. if you run anything larger than stock tires with wider offset wheels, you have to do the BMC and fender liner. you do not necessarily have to do UCA. |

My recommendation would be to get a small 2” front 1.5” rear spacer lift for your Fox shocks, i.e.; Wescott, ToyTec, Burtman, etc. Add some 285/70-17’s and call it good. No BMC required and the fender mod is already done on the Pro. The wheel width, offset and look of the Pro wheels with 285’s will look great. You can even keep your mud flaps. A 285/70-17 will also fit in your spare tire location. Start there IMO.
